I hit my cheap driver around 180-250 (I am inconsistant) but when I use a cobra driver I hit from 210-250.
I hit my 9 iron 130, 8 140, 7 150, 6 160, 5 175, and slightly higher with my 3and 4 irons (when I don't shank, top or fat them!!)

By the way I can get basically any ball in the world so more expensive golf balls are not a problem.

At the moment I really use any golf ball..from pro v1s to callaways to ultras etc etc...

Could you please suggest a ball that would stick to the green but not exaggerate my slice while keeping my distance.

I do not care about how putting feels as I can adjust to anything.

thanks.

Perhaps you could give the pro v1x a try, if you dont care about price. I personally prefer pro v1's but I also have a solid iron/wood game, and I care more about sticking shots on the green. The prov1x is a bit harder, hence less spin, which in your case might be good, its sort of inbetween a prov1 and a big bertha in terms of handeling IMO. Good luck with it, you can PM me if you end up chosing between a few, I am by no means an expert but I've played quite a few differnt brands and have some feel for what each can do.

HX Tour or Taylormade TP Black...

Both are long and straight off the driver, very stable in the wind. HX Tour is nice and soft off the irons and wedges, the Black is more like a ProV1x. both putt nice. I love the HX Tour personally, only ball that seems to blend all the great things about tour balls. Low spin off the big stick, sucks back with wedges, and putts like a dream.

Only problem is it looks like you hit it with a cheese grater after 6 holes. Still flies fine, just looks ugly.

ok thanks guys, I thought that the prov1x meant more spin so i was hesitant to put it in play. I did find thought that when using the hx tour, if i hit a bad shot, sometimes when one would slice into the trees the hx tour would end up 1st cut to the right of the fairway.

Try the Maxfli Fire Tour ball. It has good distance and feel around the ground.

I play the Ben Hogan Tour Deep. It has good distance and plenty of spin with the wedges. As a bonus its easy to tell which ball in the fairway is yours because a most people don't play Hogan's.

I wouldn't play HX tour if I were you, they scuff so easy for me. I can clip a branch and BOOM the ball has a huge scuff in it. For 40 a dozen I expect the ball to withstand a little punishment.

dont want to hijack the thread but what are nike balls like? I found one on the course the other day and started using it and was driving past the green s on par 4s (pretty short anyway on my course) seemed really good for distance problem was it wasnt long before i hit it over the top of a green and into trees never to be found again.

Bridgestone e6 would probably fit your game.

I think that the nike golf balls are ok. The nike one platinum is cheaper than the pro v1 so many people play that one as it spins well around the green (i think). Tiger woods uses the nike one platinum.

well, he uses a golf ball which has a nike logo one it which they call a 'modified nike one' i suspect they are pro-v1's without the titleist markings and with a swoosh in thier place

I would agree with CG031. Try the Bridgestone E-6 its a good ball and helped me reduce some of the slice off my drives. It is not the cure all but it does seem to help.

I don't have a real particular type of ball. However, when I do find one I like, I will generally go on EBay and search for, for example, "Callaway Hex AAAA" - you can usually pick up 100 of them for $100 - $125 and the "AAAA" rated balls look like they are right out of a new sleeve - most have some sort of corporate logo on them, but I find I get a significant value.

I just bought 5 dozen NXT Tour "near mint" from ebay for $42/shipped. Actually the first time I have bought balls in quantity, usually I just hit what I find.

I use Nike Mojos and I love them. I am moving up from a really cheap ball though since I can't afford the higher priced balls like the Pro V1's. I've hit almost every other ball in it's price range and the Mojo performs better for me. Plus, at 20 bucks you won't be pissed if you end up losing one. I think my next move will be to the Bridgestone balls, I have been hearing a lot of good things about them.

    • I had two events the past two days. Yesterday I was playing a course blind. Hit it solid. Hit 9/14 fairways, 12/18 greens, 34 putts. Many of those putts were the result of balls that were close-ish to the hole when they landed, but wound up a long way away once they'd finished rolling (backwards mainly). Then today, hit 11/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 37 putts, and shot 80. 8 over par and it wasn't particularly pretty. My big problem today was my pitching. I was inside 100 yards of the hole and off the green on 9 occasions.  1st - drive to about 75 yards, fanned a 58 degree short and right. On the green, but a good 40 feet away and good two putt from there (so took 3) 2nd - laid up to a bunker and it's narrow past it, so had 165 in, missed it right with an 8 iron. Wet rough, chip from about 5 yards off the green and the club snagged. It got on the green, but only temporarily. Overcorrected a bit on the next one and hit it a bit firm and it rolled out to about 35 feet. Putt didn't break and it ran on a bit and I missed the one back (greens were fast and a little bumpy, which didn't help, but doesn't excuse either). (took 5 to get down from close to the green) 4th - had about 95 from the right rough, hit it on the green and two putts (3) 5th - 90 from the fairway, tugged it and it got a firm bounce, chipped on and hit what I thought was a decent chip, but it ran out down the hill and two putts from 20 feet (4) 7th - 65 from the fairway, significant upslope and hit it a bit hard, ran long left against the collar. Tried to blade a PW, but it got under a bit so didn't advance it anything like far enough. Made a good two putt from there (4) 11th - 63 from the fairway, hit a squirrelly pitch on the green and two putts (3) 12th - 75 from the semi-rough, caught it a bit clean and it wound up on the back edge. Putting down a tier and it ran 8 feet past (that was actually a really good putt and couldn't have done any better I don't think) and missed that (4) 13th - 55 from the fairway, overcorrected and hit the big ball before the small ball. Then made a stellar up and down from 25 yards short to an elevated green with a putter (3) 15th - down in three from a greenside bunker (3) That was it. The other 9 holes I hit it on the green from outside 100 yards. So on those 9 occasions, I took 32 shots to get in the hole. 3.56 average. Terrible. Reason I'm posting this in here is to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to work on my contact with pitch shots. I don't have access to a grass range. Only mats and it's easy off a mat. Partly I think my problem is I've hit it off mats so much this winter that I've lost my judgement on where the ball is versus the ground because of the leeway granted. Open to ideas. I also suspect that under pressure I stand a bit closer to it and then get steep and hit down on it and it puts me in a bad place, but I can't seem to get myself to not do that.

    • Day 251 4-30 Worked on pelvis "going back" slightly in transition. Once i started getting some feel for it, added in wrist arching through. All done slower.
    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
