I've got a bunch. It seems like when I win events that give out gift cards I buy a couple dozen balls and a pair of shoes. Not really sure why, but that's my routine.

I've got Ecco, Nike (2), Foot Joy (2), Adidas, and Callaway. I may be forgetting a pair or two, but I've got a bunch.

I bought a pair of Nikes from a local store. They were all that was available in my size (13). They were very comfortable and I enjoyed them - very sneaker like and good for hiking over the varied terrain of my home course - but I wore them in the wet once and they were ruined. My feet were soaked and the shoes smelled absolutely horrible even after letting them dry out properly - I can't even put them in my car for 20 minutes without the shoes stinking up my whole car.

I bought a pair of Footjoy Reelfit shoes with the BOA lacing system and couldn't be happier. They are not quite as comfortable as the Nikes, but they have a more classy look while still being modern looking, and the lacing system is awesome. I have worn them in pouring rain and my feet have been perfectly dry. They have a 2-year waterproof warranty, which is great for golfing in the PNW. I wish I had never bought the Nikes in the first place, as they have just been sitting in the garage and I might as well just throw them away.

  • 2 weeks later...
I threw away a pair of old, old Nikes this spring. I have been using a very old (maybe 8 years) of Etonics that are just so comfy. But, they are looking fairly ratty of late so I decided to get a new pair.
I tried and tried shoes, I so wanted one of those cool $150 pairs, but none felt good.
I ended up getting about the most ugly pair of shoes Golf Galaxy had, but they were by far the most comfy to me. I think they are FJ Superlites. JUst an ugly shoe!

Driving range, I love going barefoot! Seriously. I usually don't plan hitting the range ( it is a few miles from my house) so this spring I just started popping in whenever I had the urge as I was driving by and I usually wear flip flops. So I started just going barefoot and became accustomed to it. I think I would play barefoot if I could...tatoos and all!

    • Ass clown status? I have a lifetime exemption.
    • Dude, if you don't pull driver on every non-par-3, you are going to lose your ass clown status.
    • Fair enough. You could be right.  Although, Cam Smith, to his credit, admitted it. His quote was something to the effect of "LIV Golf ruined my game. I have no drive what so ever to practice." I'm paraphrasing a little, but that was basically what he said.
    • Okay, I gave this a try today.  Just for clarity sake I used a "Spin-the-wheel" picker ap on my phone to choose which order to do the distances. Then I used my Voice Caddie SC4, which I think is pretty good. Lastly, I used carry distance not total distance. I finished 9 over par.  The very first number generated by the ap was 125. Which I hit to 123 and made a birdie. I was like "This is going to be easy." Then I got the 160 which I hit to 171 and went from 1 under to 1 over just like that.  90 yards - par 95 yards - par 100 yards - par 105 yards - bogey 110 yards - par 115 yards - double 120 yards - par 125 yards - birdie 130 yards - par 135 yards - bogey 140 yards - double 145 yards - bogey 150 yards - par 155 yards - birdie 160 yards - double  165 yards - bogey 170 yards - bogey 175 yards - par Overall a fun little game. If you have an SC4 it will let you enter in a distance as a target and record your distance for you. Then once the picker ap tells you you've done all the distances you simply add up your score off the SC4 ap. Easy-peasy.  BTW - It was hotter than a snake's ass in a wagon rut out there today.
    • On Saturday I played a short (~5900yds) but narrow course that has some quirky holes and very mature trees. Shot a 34-34 for a 68 on a par 71 which tied my lowest score relative to par at -3 (all time lowest round is a 67 on a par 70) and set my new record for most birdies in a round with 6.  That included a penalty stroke bogey on a par 5 and another sloppy bogey from 125 in the middle of the fairway. Hit a wedge from 110 to a foot on a par 4 and a knockdown flighted 9 iron from 140 to 2 feet on a par 3 for easy birdies. Add in driving it greenside on a par 4 and a couple tap in birdies on par 5s and it was a good day. Also helps that I made every putt inside 10 feet and only ended up with 27 putts for the round.  This is the SG compared to scratch and that includes losing 1.01 strokes approach on the 1st hole when I sliced a 5 iron into a hazard.
