2014 Erie/Cleveland/Pittsburgh/Buffalo Summer Get-Together (August 16-17)

Single Club Tournament Rules:

  1. We're going to play as many holes as we can before it's dark, then drive through the rest so y'all can see the rest of the course.
  2. Form your own teams of three or four (we'll see how many people we have). Try to balance the handicaps since it is a scramble. Mike and I reserve the right to swap players before the start of the round to attempt to do so if you cannot. :)
  3. Everyone on the team has to use the same club - if your group chooses 5-iron, you use a 5-iron. For every shot.
  4. Everyone on the team starts with three golf balls each. If you run out, you're out. You can borrow a ball from a teammate to continue playing. I recommend bringing a few Pinnacles or something.
  5. Laser range-finders and GPS are permitted.
  6. White tees, most likely, subject to a game-time decision.
  7. Scramble rules apply. You cannot change type of surface - fairway stays in fairway, rough in rough.
  8. Do not take this seriously at all. Have fun, and check out the course.
  9. You must use everyone's tee shot once every six holes. If you forget, don't sweat it, but try to remember.

Mike and I will buy the winning team a free round of drinks at the restaurant afterward.

Mike and I will fill in on teams of our own choosing and based on an as-needed basis and to attempt to balance the handicaps if one group has some higher handicappers or something.

      Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.

      August 2010 Woodfin Ridge 18th hole Playing in a large tournament with a slew of friends and the last day was two man best ball. The 18th, when it was bent grass, was very fast due to a steep slope on the right side. I had seen many people over the years putt off the green from above the hole. I hit a great drive and 3W to 30’ left of the hole. With everyone watching my partner hit it way too fast and never high enough and his ball rolled all the way to the bottom of the green.  I hit mine much higher and the ball came to rest about 20” above the hole. Then it slowly started trickling towards the hole for a walkoff eagle! Nobody said anything except my partner who was yelling pretty loudly. I looked at the crowd and told them it was okay to clap because it was a great putt, and they gave me a bunch of polite golf claps and brought me a beer!

      Day 127: 5/2/24 Stack Full Speed spectrum training session 6/24. Training speed was 5 mph higher than previous high, as was e-speed. Still not as high as I have done in previous programs, but just 1 mph lower. Battling through a neck issue, and possible trigger fingers. Happy with results.
