In years past I have posted on my sports memorabilia blog about Eddie Grant. He was the first major leaguer to die in the service of his country. He enlisted in April, 1917 and was KIA during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, October, 1918. Grant played in the 1913 World Series for the NY Giants and then had left the game to open a law practice.
