It's just a flat out disgrace Tringale is in the mix this week - he should be serving a one-year suspension.

That is a massive overreaction. Besides the fact that the offense (if even committed) is minor, he went ahead and DQ'd himself anyways. What would he serve the suspension for? Happy for Hunter Mahan. With his swing you'd expect him to win a lot more than he does.

1. He whiffed it.
2. He knew he whiffed it.
3. He can count.
4. He recorded a 4.
5. He should have recorded a 5.
6. He allowed the person keeping his score to mark him for 4.
7. He should have told the person keeping his score to mark him for 5.
8. He played 7 more holes and said nothing.
9. Upon reviewing the cards he said nothing.
10. He knowingly signed for a 4 on #11 when he had actually made a 5.
11. He accepted $53,000 all while knowing he had signed an incorrect scorecard.

How is a suspension for cheating not in order? And to quote Bobby Jones, him DQ'ing himself and you applauding it is like applauding a bankrobber returning the money.

YES! Completely agree Monte! I think he should be banned for life and forced to undergo the John McCain experience

Child, silence.

In professional golf, you have to be honourable - if players look at you and detect a whiff of dishonesty, your credibility is shot.

Tringale's 'DQ' warrants investigation, but as ever, the PGA just brush it, as they have done so many times.

I think you're over-reacting but I think your 11 points are valid.  I've whiffed and I knew when I whiffed that I did so with intentions of hitting the ball so it counted as a swing.  I'm not going to applaud him for coming forward 5 days later but I also don't think he should be suspended for a year.

I thought his interview was pompous, you can't state your honor is beyond reproach after you cheated and a guilty conscience plus some outside advice led you to do the right thing.

This is kind of ludicrous. He DQ'd himself and gained nothing from his supposed "cheating". No ranking points, no cash, no Ryder Cup points. Your issue with his behavior is more than a little bizarre.

EDIT:

Saying things like "Child, silence" make you seem like a huge a-hole and it damages your both your own personal credibility and the credibility of your argument.
