I think he should stop bulking up, lose weight, get thin, flexible, maybe take up Yoga, it will help him stay healthy and hence, fix his swing.

He's not bulky. Have you seen him in person? If you have, and you still think he's "bulky," we have very different definitions.

Rory just admitted to "bulking up" (as far as a golfer goes, anyway) and he just won a bunch of events in a row including two majors.

Tiger diagnosis – has not mastered Swing Key #5 club face control

Cause -- POWER ACCUMULATORS 2 AND 5 – Tiger has too much #2 and not enough #5 resulting in loss of Swing Key # 5 club face control just a fraction before impact at P7 ranging from 1 degree closed to square to 1 degree open.

Translation --  Tiger is uncocking his left wrist too much just before impact (think of the left thumb moving toward the ball causing the left wrist too be completely uncocked or arched down). This turns the club face.

The fix – Less uncocking of the left wrist before impact meaning less POWER ACCUMULATOR 2.  Employ instead more of the 5th POWER ACCUMULATOR==>  the bending (to the individual's "maximum") and releasing of the right wrist (bending in this case defined as knuckles towards top of forearm.

See here for greater explanation:

http://thesandtrap.com/t/44717/is-there-a-5th-power-accumulator

We've now believe there is a "5th" Power Accumulator... After ongoing discussion, research, and classification we (the Golf Evolution team) believe that there is a fifth power accumulator: the bending (to the individual's "maximum") and releasing of the right wrist (bending in this case defined as knuckles towards top of forearm

Expected result – less flip at just before contact and less change in direction of the club face resulting in more control of the club face and actually probably greater power. Mastery of Swing Key #5 and more major championships!

It almost seems, looking face on, that he stays in flexion on the downswing for a long time, and then has to 'pop' up really quick to save it? I don't know.

Not so bad for the irons, maybe, but that could be what's hurting the driver, if thats the case.

Kind of yeah. As @iacas mentioned he starts to add more side bend (more left shoulder down) from A4-4.5. You can see he's not really "squatting" more, he's just bending over more. I think there are a couple things he can do better at A4 but he doesn't really add the side bend on the range. For Tiger this might feel like a "power" move to him.

I'd get him more upright - closer to his old set up.  He looks awfully hunched over these days at set up.

I tell him to go find the guy he once was when his dad was alive.  He is in there, somewhere.

Too many 'yes men' around him. He is making one bad decision after another.... He knows what is wrong mechanically. He doesn't need someone telling him how to play golf. He should have taken the year off after surgery and flip the bird to networks and sponsors.

I'll defer to the real swing coaches on here as to how to fix his swing but I think his problem is as much mental as it is mechanical.

Tiger doesn't look like he's having fun out there, even last year when he won five times he didn't seem to enjoy it like he used to.  I have to think the loss of his father, problems in his marriage, the chase for Jack's record, his body breaking down and the constant pressure from the media has worn him down to the point where he doesn't love golf like he used to.   He doesn't seem to have great camaraderie with anyone on the Tour and it's probably more like a job for him than a passion.

So as Tiger's new coach, I'd get Erik to fix his swing and I'd focus on finding a way to make him have more fun on Tour.

A few comments.

I've heard that many pro golfers don't actually have a lot of fun playing the game and see it as their job not just Tiger. It takes a lot of work to be at their level be it practice, mental therapy or fitness. Second, Woods always seems to get along well with those he's partnered with on the course. You always see him joking with his partners on the tee. Of course we know he's been close with Mark O'Meara. How many PGA pro's actually hang out together?

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
