Wedges: Scor v Vokey v 588 Rtx v MacDaddy 2...Best?

Not about trying to spin the ball, simply stating that more spin on all their pitches would be beneficial. Just my position through casual observation, which is appearing to be flawed.

It's not flawed, if you can control your spin and have good distance control it's a great option to have.  A number of people I golf with think spinning the ball back proves they are a great golfer and will brag about the shot they just made that landed near the flag and spun back off the green.  Instead of being disappointed their ball rolled off the green they are pounding their chest on how that was a "professional golf shot".

I don't think I have the swing speed for much spin back, I'm happy to get the ball to stop close to where I want it to.

I don't track it but I'd wager that if I mishit hit a pitch or chip it lands short more than anything. How good or bad it is most always determined by the quality of the previous miss.

I wish that was my problem, usually my mishit is a skulled shot that sends the ball flying across the green into the rough on the other side.

I have Edel wedges. COG is in the center.

I spun the reverse threaded Edels when I was being fit by David because I'd trained myself to hit the ball in the heel a little… where the CG on most wedges sits.

Your comment above said it. I didn't know that the CG on most wedges is in the heel. I need to buy new wedges soon, so I will need to do some research to find wedges that I like with CG in the centre.

Well I did it, I purchased a 52* Fourteen wedge. Beautiful club, haven't used it yet on the course, I'll see how I like the grind, maybe have the pro grind it for me if I don't the turf interaction, we'll see. By the way the wedge did cost $185 + tax so they are a little pricey, but I really like them.

Friction. But friction exists on smooth milled faces, smooth cast faces, rougher milled faces, etc. ...

The GolfWorks schools sometimes do a demonstration on the effect of grooves. There's one iron that's smooth-faced (zero grooves) and one that had grooves. If you hit shots off a fairway-type lie, there's no real difference in spin.

If you hit shots out of the rough, or off a damp lie, the grooves help out. The grooves channel grass debris and water away from the clubface, allowing better contact with the ball. (But, you get best friction from a clean lie).

Yes, but that only works out to about a five iron's loft. Above that and grooves help generate more spin from clean lies as well.

The CoG is not in the hee l on most wedges.  It is toward the heel from the center of the face.  We are talking at most a cm of dead center.
