Sure, there are equipment that you need more than just one, like balls, tees, and maybe gloves. How many of you have piles of equipment? More than one driver, more than one set of irons, few pairs of shoes, multiple putters, etc? And why?

I'm going to buy another pair of shoes so that I have one pair for the dry and one for the wetter days.

Mmm... not yet. Other than a 7-Iron, which I bought for $5 before buying a set of clubs, but it's not in my bag.

I have two "four irons" - a hybrid and the non-hybrid one that came in my set. But I hit the hybrid 10 yds or so past the traditional iron, so it's effectively a 3-iron as far as I'm concerned. Similar with my 3-hybrid. I plan to double up soon, since next clearance sale will net me a Cobra Driver and maybe another 5-Wood (since I don't carry mine currently, in part because it's on loan to a friend). I kind of have two putters, but one was my grandfather's from the 70s. It was my first putter, and I'm emotionally attached to it, but I don't use it anymore. I'll probably get a few more putters at the next clearance sale - maybe a mallet or two-baller if they have 'em, maybe a shorter putter. Gotta have some variety to see what I like.

YES, at first it was just a 'home' set and a 'travel' set, then it turned into 5 sets of irons, 16 putters, numerous woods, hybrids and wedges, 4 pairs of shoes, etc. Well the list of putters is down to 5 now at least

I must be a club and golf gear junkie, have a full set of irons and some extras ones, have over a dozen new golf gloves. My biggest problem are wedges, have several of those because of trying different combinations. Also have about 4 or 5 putters. Have three pair of golf shoes, lots of tees, and a LOT of different golf balls.

Guilty as Charge !

I own 2 sets of Iron, 4 different drivers, 3 Putters and a bunch of different wedges.

Reason: Not so long ago I was in an ARMS RACE with my buddies, we all knew were addicted and all agrees that it was the equipments fault and never ourselves. The funniest thing is paying for a golf lessons is cheaper than a new driver, ohhh if I only knew then what I know now.

If I had the money I would definately keep a stock pile. A good friend of mine owns his own golf repair shop and he gets a number of clubs in that end up just sitting around the store that I am able to just take out and fool around with. I'd like to have a few drivers, each with some of their own custom specs. I've fooled around a lot with lofts and different shafts and have found that depending on the conditions each club can impact my round. We have played some real tight tracks and with that in mind I used his driver that was cut down to 43.5 inches so I had a lot more control and lost a little distance. Other than that putters would be nice to fool around with depending on what kind of greens your heading into.

I own two pairs of shoes (alternate them); I have three Scottys - the Newport 2 is my staple, but I end up going with the Red X at times when I start sucking (which is often) -I also have a Laguna ProPlat from ebay that is waiting for an extra $300 to send to Scotty's restoration shop; I have an extra cart bag; two drivers going to one (sold the r7 superquad); I have an extra 3/4 iron, as I replaced them with Hybrids; an extra Vokey 52 degree wedge; an extra 3-wood (can't use more than 14 clubs). I think that's it...

I used to have 2 full sets of clubs, along with about 3-4 drivers and 3 or so putters. Last year I got together with a friend (husband of my wife's childhood friend) who lives out of town and we played golf; he was just getting back into it. Looked like he was playing with circa '70's knockoff sticks. I mean these were BAD. So, I "donated" my old irons and even a driver to him. I know, some guys wouldn't part with their old clubs for anything, but it's not like I'd ever use them again. And they were miles better than what he was using. They were my original King Cobra's, so they had to be 12+ years old. I think I also gave him a TM 540 driver, a cart bag that I'd had (he had the old 70's style leather bag). He was as happy as could be.

I still have multiples of some things; 3 pair of shoes, 3 or 4 putters (ain't parting with my putters), etc. What I really need is a bigger house so I can collect more!

Sure do, 5 sets of irons, 100 putters a dozen wedges 6 drivers. It's hard to pass a golf store and not stop by to see what you have to have.

I do however get to blame my two teenage sons for the excess and why we "need" it. besides trading your gear gets you squat.

I was in a golf galaxy last week and a guy had just traded in a like new scotty studio style and they gave him $84. I'm sorry but I'd much rather have it collect dust in my basement. Stumble upon a deal like the Scotty and you have to pick it up.

Two drivers. Bought the r7 460 earlier in August and after a few rounds and couple bucket of balls I wasn't really sold. Found a Titleist 907D1, for a great price, that I love that I have been using since. Therefore, I have two drivers in my bag. Haven't used Taylor Made in quite a while, normally just leave it in the car. I know I can't get my money back so I am just hanging on to it I guess.

    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
    • I had two events the past two days. Yesterday I was playing a course blind. Hit it solid. Hit 9/14 fairways, 12/18 greens, 34 putts. Many of those putts were the result of balls that were close-ish to the hole when they landed, but wound up a long way away once they'd finished rolling (backwards mainly). Then today, hit 11/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 37 putts, and shot 80. 8 over par and it wasn't particularly pretty. My big problem today was my pitching. I was inside 100 yards of the hole and off the green on 9 occasions.  1st - drive to about 75 yards, fanned a 58 degree short and right. On the green, but a good 40 feet away and good two putt from there (so took 3) 2nd - laid up to a bunker and it's narrow past it, so had 165 in, missed it right with an 8 iron. Wet rough, chip from about 5 yards off the green and the club snagged. It got on the green, but only temporarily. Overcorrected a bit on the next one and hit it a bit firm and it rolled out to about 35 feet. Putt didn't break and it ran on a bit and I missed the one back (greens were fast and a little bumpy, which didn't help, but doesn't excuse either). (took 5 to get down from close to the green) 4th - had about 95 from the right rough, hit it on the green and two putts (3) 5th - 90 from the fairway, tugged it and it got a firm bounce, chipped on and hit what I thought was a decent chip, but it ran out down the hill and two putts from 20 feet (4) 7th - 65 from the fairway, significant upslope and hit it a bit hard, ran long left against the collar. Tried to blade a PW, but it got under a bit so didn't advance it anything like far enough. Made a good two putt from there (4) 11th - 63 from the fairway, hit a squirrelly pitch on the green and two putts (3) 12th - 75 from the semi-rough, caught it a bit clean and it wound up on the back edge. Putting down a tier and it ran 8 feet past (that was actually a really good putt and couldn't have done any better I don't think) and missed that (4) 13th - 55 from the fairway, overcorrected and hit the big ball before the small ball. Then made a stellar up and down from 25 yards short to an elevated green with a putter (3) 15th - down in three from a greenside bunker (3) That was it. The other 9 holes I hit it on the green from outside 100 yards. So on those 9 occasions, I took 32 shots to get in the hole. 3.56 average. Terrible. Reason I'm posting this in here is to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to work on my contact with pitch shots. I don't have access to a grass range. Only mats and it's easy off a mat. Partly I think my problem is I've hit it off mats so much this winter that I've lost my judgement on where the ball is versus the ground because of the leeway granted. Open to ideas. I also suspect that under pressure I stand a bit closer to it and then get steep and hit down on it and it puts me in a bad place, but I can't seem to get myself to not do that.
