Fun stuff - just my info, anyone comment or have an idea what you'd do with these metrics and recommendations.  My guy decided to that a regular stiff, but heavier shaft was a good fit Dynamic Gold S300 (same as my last set actually) (so neither of the recommendations).....

I'm going to do some research anyway....I like to learn this stuff.

headspeed 89 (no surprise there pretty much what I get from Trackman for a 6i)

Don't know what these 4 mean in terms of interpreting the metric:  How are they measured and what is the range and what does a high vs low number mean......

tempo 4

Toe Down 4  (I did order the new ones 1 degree upright based on a couple other tests)

Kick Angle 6

release factor 7

Shafts listed (and I don't know what any of this means other than X and S):

KBS X - 130g - soft step

NS Pro 1150 S  116g - hard step

KBS X - 130g - soft step

I would pick this one, it's a good shaft. KBS feels really good.

I'm using a similar flex KBS Tour on my MP-32, and they work fine even with my slower swing speed.

Numbers are ascending. 1 = low, 9 = high. Tempo is how fast your transition is from backswing to downswing. Toe down is exactly what it sounds like: how much your club droops down in the swing. Kick angle is how much the shaft bends (forward I think) in the downswing. Release factor is how long you hold your lag. 1 would be like Sergio Garcia. It's all arbitrarily assigned scaling and it's Mizuno's, so no idea how that would translate to anything else. I guess you can get a pretty good idea of what shafts you should be looking at and go from there. I did it once and just trusted the machine to analyze correctly. I didn't end up buying clubs.

I hit some inside today, and I kicked out the Project X and the DG....The Nippon just feels soooo good.  The KBS would be a dark horse.  The other shaft I put up there with the Nippon is the DGPro.  The DGpro is not offered by Mizuno so therefore it won't come up in the optimizer.

yeah - the S300 didn't come up, so I'm still wondering why recommended that, (other than it was a good shaft on my previous clubs.  but I didn't prompt him for it)...

I have read the S300 is slightly stiffer than the equivalent KBS so that may be why, though it doesn't explain why it wasn't listed as an option for you.

thanks, maybe the other thing is I was hitting the MP-64's a long ways, and the MP-15 not as much (I'd say the reason is the 64's flew out on a lower traj mostly).  I took the 15's regardless as they felt a lot softer on anything that wasn't dead center contact.  So maybe the S300's would help me slightly lower the trajectory a bit to cash in some of that lost distance (I read they relatively give a lower flight than the other two - I'd think that's more a function of my swing, but what do I know).  I just don't know.  I know little about shaft fitting if anything.

But it's early....and I'm happy to learn

right or wrong, I think his thought was - soft step a 130 gram X, or hard step a 116 S being the choices offered, might have suggested a 3rd option:  take a brand where its S at 130 on a shaft that's relatively slightly stiffer than the other brands'  S versions....  And, we did try on the three shafts (not stepped) just for good measure and none really stood out to me

meh - regardless, I can't wait to play with the new toys and I've already had this shaft and it seems good to me.  should be shipping by this Friday

Enjoy the new clubs.  I'm hoping Santa brings me a set of JPX-850 forged with KBS-90's.

I hit the s300 well also and it didn't come up... I know its a low launch shaft so that might be why. The DG x100 came up once, I've done it a few times so I have more than 3 recommendations. I agree there would be a big gap between hard stepping the 1150gh stiff and soft stepping the KBS Tour X that's why I'm suprised they didn't throw in the Project X 6.0 straight in just to fill the weight void. The heavier weighted shafts will help with your release. I hit the 1150 in stiff yesterday and loved the feel. I would try it the way it is, hardstepped and then an x softstepped to feel the weight difference and see what the numbers are. The KBS I hit in Stiff and its ok, doen't feel like the Nippon though. The PX 6.0 just gave me no consistency so I went down to the 5.5 and it was the same so that one is out. I hit the DGpro since it was suggested to me but not a shaft that Mizuno offers. I hit it in the Vapor Pro combo and loved it too. Remember, the optimizer is a starting point. Its job is to narrow down the field of 9,00,000 shafts to a few that work with your numbers. Next step is for you to get outside and hit them or get on trackman and see what the numbers are then take the good ones outside to have a look. My 3 shafts after hitting some would be the Nippon, KBS and DGPro. I know the DGpro is flighted, not important to me but its nice.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
