I just meant that you should keep your eyes focused instead of focusing on what your hands are doing etc.  If your eyes aren't focused on where you want the club to hit the ball, you are screwed.  At least I am.  Thinking about keeping the club in between both arms throughout the swing is not a good thought, as I found out today.  What was working well was keeping my eyes focused and making sure I rotated my back to the target.  Seems I play well when I get my back to the target and when I play bad I lean towards the target (reverse piviot) on the backswing.  So I'm just gonna take a couple of practice swings getting my back to the target and then clearing my mind, focusing on the ball and pulling the trigger.

Mine is rhythm/tempo. I took a quote from the movie "Tin Cup" . "Dollar Bills" is my swing thought sometimes.

Agree.  If my eyes start to flow back with the swing to keep an eye on what is happening with my arms, I have less of a pivot and more of a sway, and I rarely do a good job of hitting through the ball.  I think you can rehearse the sync feeling of keeping your arms in front of your torso, but I think you need to be careful even in doing that as it can lead your body to let the arms drive the swing.  My swing is much better when I keep my eyes right on the ball (or even just in front of the ball) and allow my torso to pivot back and forth.  I like to have the feeling that the arms are more passive and are just flowing with the torso.  If I focus on my arms, they also get tense and that also seems to affect my ability to turn and rotate my upper body.  I would just practice staying "in sync" with the arms and torso but when it comes time to swing the club, you have to trust it.

Good stuff.  Totally agree.  If you are thinking, you're eyes go out of focus.  I guess it's almost like letting your eyes be your brain.

I think about the line of flight I want to hit, from behind the ball to the landing spot.

That's a good one, too... Visualization.  I really struggled this weekend when I played a round.  I don't practice much, so I went to the range this evening and got in a groove finally by basically not worrying so much about the backswing and just trying to keep the handle moving up and left through the downswing.  Flipping is my problem and I think I should just focus on that.

If you flip then focus on hands. On the right hip and left hip as you go through the learning position is the same hands. The ball can then crawl up the face according to the club selected.

Or focus on why you flip ;-)

Fix the cause, not the effect.

I just had this discussion on the phone with one of the foursome I played with today. On the course is not the time for discussion, but over bbq and wine... So the reason is distance. Simple really, what happens with the 45 inch club by stopping the hands and thus whipping the club head round like one would whip a skier behind a boatto increase skier speed in a turn becomes a problem when the shorter clubs arrive at the ball earlier than the swinger expects a driver to arrive At the ball. The green between the ears thinks a driver length and a wedge length can be the same in arrival time.

My biggest issue is with keeping my head relatively steady.

I go through a series of thought like everyone else but it seems the one that gets me in trouble most is the head movement.

I know just what it was every time I top the ball or hit it thin.

Maybe just concentrating on that one issue is the key.

Would love to know anyone's thought on a good drill(s) to stop the flip.

Like @mvmac said, fix the cause not the effect. Lots of causes result in flipping.

Uhhh, like I just said....does anyone know any good drills to FIGURE OUT WHY I'm FLIPPING.  I thought this was a community for ideas and helping, not talking down to others.

You are over-reacting or something. Nobody's talked down to you. There are many many causes of flipping. Do you want us to just guess? Post a My Swing thread with good video from proper angles.

No one is talking down to you. Giving you advice about fixing the cause and not the effect is trying to help you utilize your time. We can't figure out why without seeing a swing. Feel free to post one here.

If the cause of your flip is your study of how to extract most headspeed and thus distance from longer sticks, you may well be decelerating hands to cause the head to pass the hands at an accelerated rate on those long sticks. This is like posting up on the greenside leg to produce a whipping action. When the clubs become shorter this decel produces the flip via the quicker swing path of shorter clubs, and is very prominent in the short chip type shots, especially if the player is consistent in his or her swing From long to short clubs. The traditional fix it to get the wrists, and thus the hands and club, through to the green side, hip side part of the release section of the swing. I hope that was fairly clear. The idea of the wrists not changing from the right side hip to the left side hip were the player a righty. Everybody says getting the face on the ball right through contact is the important idea, and not changing the wrist to face relation between the shoes gets this done, especially on the soft short shots.

We have a big thread on flipping over on this thread below. You are welcome to all questions there. Still to help you with your specific problem you need to post your swing on here so we can see why it might be happening. http://thesandtrap.com/t/38588/flipping-at-impact-master-thread/

This is good info.  I took some swings and think I actually stop moving the handle on the backswing while the rest of the club goes too far back....meaning I think my back swing is way to shallow/crowded..whatever you call it.  Then there's nowhere to go on the downswing.  I'll try to post a video of my swing as others have suggested.
