I'm really looking forward to playing without distracting knee pain this year.

I'll have plenty of time to practice my swing & putting while recovering.

Best of luck to you.

I hope the recovery period goes by fast.

I see the same thing in my future someday.

A good friend of mine got a left knee replacement last year and he says it brought back his freedom - walking and better golf. I have an artificial right hip and I know that my life would be impossible without it.

After your rehab, your quality of life will definitely improve. Good luck to you.

Got one: artificial left knee.  Big life improvement, for sure.  Advise you to not expect straight line upwards recovery. The doc will saw off the ends of two major legs bones, drill holes into those bones, apply glue, stick into the holes titanium rods hooked to plates. Then he/she will stick a plastic part between the plates, sew you up and send you to bed.

Post op, my legs and hips had numerous aches and pains, all due to the various adjustments needed up and down the leg. Hips and right leg ached due to poor gait, shin bone ached due nerve adjustments, etc.  After 2.5 yrs, all good but knee gets tired after the stadium steps.  Best wishes.

I had a Double Knee Replacement on November 11.  Back to work 1/2 days on December 14 (I have a desk job).  Back to work Full time January 4.

While doing some shopping on New Year's Eve, I swung by Golfsmith.  I swung a 6 iron for about 20 balls.  Hit a majority of them straight and in the air.  I was only taking about  3/4 backswing and not a full follow through.

I thought the recovery would be quicker.  Knees are still swollen and achey.

joekelly, how long did it take you to get back to "Normal" golf?

Buddy of mine had his left knee replaced in June.  He played his first full18 holes in October, about 16 weeks.  Completely pain free striking the ball much better as a result of being able to get onto his left side without pain.

He's so happy that he can't stand it!

My surgery was 8 weeks yesterday.  16 weeks would be in March...plenty of time to get ready for golf season here in WI.

I sure hope I'm as lucky as your friend.

I had my left knee done November 3rd.  Doctor said no full swings till February 1st. But said after 3 weeks it was ok to chip and putt.   I am having the right knee done February 15th.,  Looking forward to be able to walk the course again.

Lots of discomfort for about a month, nearly impossible to sleep the first week or so.  I suggest sleeping in a recliner if you have one.

I was in rehab 2 days after surgery and kept pushing myself.  Keep walking around in your home.  The more you walk the looser it gets.

Right now I go to the gym every other day and bike 14 to 16 MPH for 30 minutes and do some light strength work.  The knee goes like a piston.  No pain, some stiffness from time to time,

Good luck

    • Oh man. As you can see above, Manavian mocked me for not realizing they were getting the 130° from BOTH shoulders. Apparently, though, Manavian is also wrong, as Andy said I was lying when I cited what Manavian had written: The next thing Andy says that's both accurate and clearly stated will be the first. I replied to that post with something like: Tell Manavian who said "only counting the abduction/adduction of one shoulder rather than 2." One of the issues with “bad” information is that y’all can’t even get on the same page. You've not shown that Bryson has 130° range of motion in either shoulder separately P1 to P7. I’ve shown the numbers. You’ve name-called and just said “nuh uh” repeatedly. Did you see the AMG IG video? Of course you have. Wrapping your head around the distance the shoulder travels yet, Andy? Andy later commented to explain how he got his range of motion number (apologies to whoever @iacac and @icaca are on Instagram, who are going to be wondering just what in the hell they've gotten themselves into). Oh boy. Adding the numbers in one direction and then adding them again going back is not a "range" of motion. If I can bend my knees 140°, I don't claim to have 280° range of motion because I have two knees nor because I can also extend my knees 140° after bending them. Bryson (with a driver, again — I used his iron swing) abducts about 65° (and bends his elbow a ton) with the driver. Then he adducts 50… and then another 15°… to end up right back where he started. This is exactly the equivalent of saying that I bend my knees 140° and then straighten them, creating a range of 280°. It's so silly I don't even have much of a response. It falls down completely on its own. It doesn't need even a nudge.
    • Can't remember who but some wise guy said "Arms up, body around"..😉. Anywho, been working on pinning my lead arm less and less to my chest in the BS. Decent progress with the arms, need a lot of work and trust for the 'body around' part.
