Hello,

I need to work on Key #4 and also getting my shaft pointing out passed the golf ball. (Flatten my swing). I come down very steep right now which I have been slowly working on going from A1 to A2 - Shaft at Parallel. (My wrists are cocked and my hands are just passing my thighs.

My problem now is going from A2, A3 and ending at A4 trying to get the shaft nicely pointing out passed the ball and starting my downswing with my hips turning while not having the shaft get to steep again.

We are trying to get rid of my steepness in my swing and flatten it out.

I'm having a hard visualizing your A4. Can you put up a video?

Here is Robert Rock swing. At A5 notice how the butt of his club is facing out towards the golf ball. My problem is i am coming in steep and my butt of the club is facing between my feet and ball.

It is a common problem that many of us have.  My Evolvr instructor has me doing drills from A4 to A5& A6 where I lay down the shaft in an exaggerated way.  I take my swing from A1 - 4 normal speed and stop.  Then I go to A5 and stop.  Then on to A6.  From A6, I back up a small amount then hit the ball.  Here is a video of me doing the drill.  I am doing it too fast, but you get the idea.

You need to do these drills as described in the thread below.  Check with your Evolvr instructor.

Great information regarding this. Evolvr has helped me so much. What's the best way to contact your instructor regarding this? The notes section on the upload, do you shoot him a pm on here or do you email in?

They should have an e-mail you can use or they are in this forum.  Who do you have?

If you are a visual person, yoga blocks outside the ball may help or try setting up an alignment stick with a swim noodle behind and inside your down the line view.  The concept is that the visual stimulus will help you come more from the inside trying not to hit the yoga blocks or the swim noodle.

I do like Boogielicious's suggestions.   Slow and specific.   Look at the thread he suggested.   It is a great read.

I'm sure Stephan has talked about this but the reason things get steep is because of how your wrists tend to "collapse" as you over-extend your torso towards the end of the backswing. So first thing to focus on would be to shorten the backswing.

Yeah Stephan explained how a short backswing would help a lot. Great info from you guys. Feels like between working with Stephan and you guys I'll be going somewhere!

Be patient.  Even something that sounds as simple as shortening the backswing can take time to become permanent.

    • Oh man I had one today. Ball below and I still chilli dipped it!!
    • Playing Cog Hill #2 yesterday with @cedrictheo and @NatalieB… we get to the par-three 7th, a 185-yard (or 145-yard) par three. There's a St. Judge Million Dollar Shot challenge on the hole if you choose to participate. The rules: $20 entry Hit the green, get your $20 back. Hit it to ≤ 10 feet, get $50 back. Hit it to ≤ 3 feet, get $100 back. Hit it in the hole, get $10,000 back. (No, I don't know where the "million dollar" bit comes from). We all decline, though in hindsight I wish I had just given him $20 for our group and said "keep it, please." I step up… and hit it to 30". @cedrictheo steps up… hits it to about 40". @NatalieB steps up… and we both tell her how bad she sucks, how terrible she is, etc. because she hits it to about nine and a half feet. 😄  If we had all entered we'd have won between $110 and $140. Ha ha. (I'm still glad we didn't as that would have been TAKING money from charity.) Anyway, three really good shots on a tough hole. The guy running the challenge must have thought we were nuts. He said "Man, you guys really should have entered!" 😄
