Scottsdale insiders:  I'm headed there for a little over a week in June.  Yes, I know it will be hot--I can handle it, I love teeing off at 0630, and I know I can play six times for $300, rather than once at that price at the same course if I were to go in March.

So the question is:  what are the best deals for summer golf in Phoenix/Scottsdale?  I went last summer and played Troon North (both courses) and Greyhawk (both courses).  I'm looking for good, challenging courses in good condition that can be had for a steal during the summer.  Where are the deals???

WIldfire is not a bad track, and I really like Quintero. Of course you have the TPC stadium, I know years past they have had a special were play both course and lunch for $99. Just not sure what the June rates will be.

We-Ko-Pa is $75 versus $230 in peak season and TPC Scottsdale has a $120 offer to play Champions in the morning and the Stadium in the afternoon, with lunch thrown in. That could be a long, sweaty day. Take beer!

Everything is a deal in June. :-) I would also look at Talking Stick (2 courses) plus a Top Golf and a casino for the nighttime. A short drive east of Troon North are the Rio Verde courses. I really like Tegavah and you may be able to get on at Tonto Verde which has 36 holes. (private but they sometimes allow play). Wildfire has a nice facility and is usually in great shape. Check out Moon Valley Country Club and the Pointe at Tapitio. (N Central Phoenix) A great course south of the valley is Southern Dunes but it could be 45 min to a hour S of Scottsdale)

Enjoy!

Hmm... I might be out there in mid-July. Do you think Talking Stick will still be running deals? I'd like to play that course... or maybe both of those courses. I'm a little surprised it's a half hour drive from the Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Thanks @isukgolf and @bman1313 .  The boys portion of my trip was cancelled, but I'm here with the family now.  Going to play tomorrow; choosing between Wildfire, Quintero, and Verrado.  I'm going to make some calls this am and I'll play whichever place isn't doing maintenance and gives me the best chance of finishing 36 before noon for $80 or so.

If either of y'all want to join I could push it to Thurs.

Quintero at 6:39 for $39. Stoked--I've heard great things about the course.

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
