Sorry, @Rulesman, fat fingered the pad and sent blank. Point taken. Getting closer to simple ruling/definition then. Insert; obstruction; as other sports identify objects) and the term obstruction. Decision based on the object and the nature of the obstruction. Oh, that's what this discussion was all about. Faced discussions like this dozens of times...not in golf though. :-D.

I have done this before and it was me and my two friends out there. When we came up on the hole we were shocked. I was semi-excited but I know it wasn't a guaranteed hole in one because Ball has to be in the bottom of the cup. So instead of putting the ball on the edge my friends made me spot it a putter length away lipped out and it rolled off the green. Next shot back to the exact same spot where I spotted "The Half a Hole In One" spot then putted it in for a bogey. After the whole was over an ounce to my friends that if that ever happened again if it was in a ruling it should be an automatic birdie no hole-in-one. Definitely the closest thing to a hole-in-one unless the ball gets stuck on top of the Pin.

    • Day 14 - Short game work today. Pitching and putting felt good, but chipping needs some attention.
    • Day 241: Just a bit of mirror work today. Checking wrist stuff in the backswing and working on lower body stuff as well.
    • Oh.. I take yips by a mile  I'm already a nervy putter and wouldn't be much skin off my back, but more importantly putting is bullshit. Not golf. Invented by some unathletic dufftard who couldn't strike a 'baw' to save their life but yet had to find relevance somehow. Plus I can always switch to sim golf full time if it gets too bad with an 8 feet gimmie setting. If I didn't have to hit another 4 footer for the rest of my life, it would be good riddance.
    • Day 9 (18 Mar 25) / Played 9 with my good friend Mike - was a solid head wind going out and just as solid tail wind coming in. With 7 club setup, made for thinking course management - to play into a good distance for the known yardages of the clubs in play….
    • Interesting points from the panel. Me - #2 would be easier to handle as I like to go less than driver on some holes, just because the approach distances suit my eye better.  So I could overcome the distance loss that less than driver presents.
