  1. 1. Better U.S. Open Victory?

    • Jason Day in 2015 with Vertigo
      9
    • Tiger Woods in 2008 with Broken Leg
      22

Actually playing with a dizzy head and not even being able to stand up is a much bigger accomplishment than a slightly hurt leg. I would give the vote to Day based on that. I'd much rather play with a sore leg than totally dizzy and not able to stand on my feet.....Day all the way

Also, the irrational love for tiger on here is as ridiculous as any hate...."so clearly Tiger "

It looks like something a 14 year old girl talking about Justin Bieber would write

Slightly hurt? He had a fractured leg and a completely torn ACL. He missed the entire rest of the year after this.

I mean, if you feel that Day has more of a case, that's fine; vertigo is no joke, and I can attest from playing through concussions in football that any fuzziness at all while playing sports makes it much harder. But to pretend that Tiger wasn't severely injured is pretty dishonest.

Also, irrational love? I think most of the posters on here defend Tiger in matters like these because they actually believe that the evidence requires it. Now, sure, do we have some Tiger lovers? Sure. But none of them have ever shown any tendency to be irrational.

Ha ha. Yep.

So clearly Tiger.

I just reviewed some footage of the playoff, it didnt look like he had ANY injury going. No distinct limp or anything, no sign of injury.

Ohhhhh, you're trolling! That makes more sense.

Would you happen to be Patrick57? I don't think I was here the last time you came around. Or Pete Hurrikane? Or Vijay4Life? It'd be so great to meet one The Sand Trap's HOF troll bullshitters.

Steve Williams made some interesting comments about Tiger winning with a broken leg.  He had a broken leg and won the US Open.  I don't think it is possible to win a pga event if affected with vertigo every day of the tournament.  One might escape with a good score if only a few holes were played while experiencing vertigo.  I have played golf while having vertigo and it is very tough.  The advantage that I have is that I'm not playing against the best in the world and I am riding a cart.  Walking at Chambers Bay is a tough go when in good health.

Hate to state the obvious, but obviously Tiger winning the U.S. Open on a broken leg is obviously more impressive than Jason Day not winning the U.S. Open with vertigo. It would have been pretty effing impressive if he had and the conversation would be far more interesting, but he didn't. Full stop.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Oh, okay then, that settles it. Tiger was clearly faking it and did not have a ruptured ACL and stress fractures and he only took extra time off because he wanted to be lazy and bang more hos. Edit: Restricted? Wise decision. Was adding nothing to the discussion.

18 holes with the leg, vs really only finishing the tale end of one hole with vertigo.  The following day he didn't have any real vertigo (that I heard about), but was just playing with it in the back of his mind. Still tough, but not in the same league as the win in '08...

...which really hurt cuz I really like Rocco!

How do you know what the leg was like?

The fact that after one of the best starts to a season in golf history (4 out of 6 wins with top 5s in the other 2) the fact that he then took 9 months off and had surgery probably tells us that the injury was for real.

LOL. He just took the next 9 months off, while at the peak of his dominance, for fun.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I must have been watching the wrong event. I missed the event where Jason Day was held up by his caddy while he swung and carried between holes. Who won the Open you watched?

Noone doubts it was for real. But getting around to getting an injury fixed is a lot different to playing with what the common perception of a broken leg is.

If you can walk, let alone play golf, let alone win a U.S. Open on a broken leg, it is not a broken leg beyond a technical description.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I mean, sure, you can play on it. I played football with a fractured wrist; doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell the whole time. Also, if the broken leg doesn't satisfy, the completly gone ACL more than puts his case over the top.

No one?  Not you, surely, but there are still lots of folks who do still claim it was faked or over-exaggerated.  Like this @mtsalmela80 guy.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
