Certainly.  But the timing in the US was the issue.  We had this scandal in the biggest sport.  Shortly after, we had prohibition. Then the excess of the 1920s that led to the depression. Organized crime was rampant. So states tried to curb it by making gambling illegal to hit organized crime.  Push them underground so to speak.

I don't agree with the approach.  It didn't work and neither did prohibition.  But this was the atmosphere that started it.

I'd have to think KPMG isn't so happy with the SEC and money-laundering bad press associated with Phil (even if he is completely innocent).
