The OTHER tournament this week, full of scrubs who couldn't qualify for The Open Championship. The Barbasol Championship is a new tournament for 2015 and will be played at the Grand National course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Opelikalikolunalika, Alabama. First Round Leaderboard: 1. Sam Saunders -7 2. Jason Gore -6 T3. Martin Flores -5 T3. Maverick McNealy(A) -5 T3. Will Wilcox -5 T3. Carlos Ortiz -5 T3. Carlos Sainz Jr. -5 T8. Erik Compton -4 T8. Funny, I was looking down this leaderboard and it was like.......wow, this guy is still playing (Len Mattiece)....wow, I thought that guy teaches now (Stan Utley).....wow, that guy is still alive (Guy Boros).....wow, how is a guy with that much talent not in the Open (Andreas Romero).....

Love following these tourneys, as you know these guys are just chomping to have "that" kind of week.....

Guy Boros alive? I think you are remembering his dad - Julius Boros (18 PGA wins, WGHoF member)

Julius passed away in 1994 (per wiki)

No, I am thinking about 5' 9"  305 lbs. Guy.......have you seen this guy lately?

True, they are not playing in the Open. To call them scrubs though, makes you sound like a bit of a dip shit. Care to share your golf resume with us. I have no doubt its every bit as impressive as those players you have listed.

I once started a round with 4 straight holes in one. I once shot a round of 16. I once made a one on the 18th of St. Andrews. I once putted a ball 234 yards. I once sectionally qualified for The Masters. Uh, I be speakin' swaghili. Bruh.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida - Take your pick, it sucks down here From May 15th - September 15th. Unless you live near the water you can expect a heat index of 95 everyday. Wake up and there is moisture on the house windows. Sticky, slimy..... Especially for those out of shape.

Most up north that don't come to Florida in the summer don't get it... They see a temp of 91 vs there 98 and think it is better hear... The Humidity inland is off the charts. Once your 4 miles inlad from the ocean it does not make a difference how far off the ocean you are, all the same. Swamp weather and it sucks...

We can relate in Erie, PA. I lived in southern Florida too… it is just as humid or more so here. Just usually not as hot.

      Is the Shaft More Important or Is the Head More Important When Being Fit for a New Driver?

      When I got to Florida this season (seasons instead of years since the years overlap) one of the guys asked what I had done, said I was about twenty yards longer with my driver. Said that I had a different driver which was true but looking back it’s really the shaft that’s been the difference. It’s similar in principle to the Autoflex in that it’s light weight and also light flex. Since most of my clubs are bought used I have difficulty finding senior shafts most of the time and being old and slow that’s what I need. Bought the Callaway driver, for several years I preferred Ping drivers, because they only had a couple of used drivers with senior shafts in my price range and it’s been probably the best I’ve had. Longer and very forgiving, decent distance even on my mishits and almost always in play. Keep in mind that my swing speed is probably under 70mph.

      Day 17 - First round of the year. It took me about 6 holes to remember how to hit off grass. Short game was lacking, but the round could’ve been much worse. It’s nice that my new “bad” is my old “good.”
