Thinking about going from irons to hybrid & could use some advise.

First let me say that I have never been able to hit a fairway wood well.  I know it is probably mental & I need lessons & need to practice more.

That being said let me get to my question.

In my bag I currently have a 3i & 4 i.  I average 178 with the 4i and 181 with the 3i.  This leaves me at a disadvantage on par 5 and long par 4 holes.

I went to Golfsmiths and hit a Ping 22 degree hybrid and was averaging between 190 and 202.

Should I ditch the 3 & 4 irons and go with a hybrid?

Sounds like it's worth giving it a shot. I'm a fan of hybrids.

Definitely go with the hybrids

@cnl390. I had success with playing hybrids for one solid year. 1-4 Adams Pro. No driver and woods. Irons 3-9 and wedges. Got to the point I was really playing them well off the tee and deck but my pro wanted me back in the woods after surgeries. We pulled the 3-4 iron, and 1-3 hybrid. Added the 1, 3, and 5 wood. Kept 4h. Re Shafted the 5-9 iron higher rev. Boy what a difference, but I got pretty good hitting the peanut heads. Takes time. Now my woods and 4h are my go to clubs.

I have 4 hybrids in my bag.  2,4,5 & 6.   I'd recommend anyone to switch to them.  They are just so easy to hit.

I went with a 3H and 4H to replace my 3 and 4 irons.  Just went into a set of Game Imporvement Irons (5-9) and kept my wedges.  I think you will like the results of the Hybrids.  I did not lose any distance but am a bit more consistent in my accuracy with the Hybrids...
