I (like many) suffer from the occasional slice with my driver. (Nike covert 2.0, set up with draws basis and stiff shaft. ) went for a lesson a while ago and the pro said when I get to the point of contact to try and roll my hands . only problem I have is that I don't want to get into a habit of swinging this way with all clubs. as my iron play is generally pretty decent just after some advice , if anyone has had simulate problems.

Was this a certified instructor????  Unless he tried everything else with you at no point should he tell you to roll your wrists IMO.  I like doing the gate drill to get the swing pattern of a draw down.  Take 2 tees and put one behind the ball on the right side of it about 3 inches behind.  Take the other tee and put it in front of the ball on the left side about the same distance.  Now make a swing and don't hit either tee...this will force you to swing in to out and should give the ball a draw bias...as you get more comfortable with it move the tees in closer...if your hitting too much of a draw move the back one more to the right side of the ball and the front one the opposite...hope this helps

yeah he was an instructor at American golf in Glasgow. what he told me to do did work. but was worried about it becoming a incorrect habit. I'll give that a try thanks.

Please don't do that. Here's reason #1:

I feel the same. A teacher told me to roll the forarms in order to get rid of my slice with the drive. The problem, is that I´m making the same with my irons, and I strike them far worse than I did before (pulls, and weak strikes).... and what is even worse, my slice with the driver is still with me... :(

nothing worse pal. think a bit of time at the range, maybe another lesson and see what happens is in order for myself. off the tee is just killing my game right now. great when it comes off, but 3off Tees are a nightmare

Could someone make a draw or image of this drill ? I think it should be my priority piece now! Thanks,

as grinde6 says: I have been trying to create a repeatable inside out swing. My ball is going straighter and longer.

I shortened my stance a little, (I had my stance slightly wider than shoulder width, trying to beat the beejesus out of the ball) made sure I have a closed grip (my instructor likes me to see at least two knuckles) and I moved the ball an inch back in my stance. I also move my back foot further behind my front foot. (It feels like it helps me get around better as Im old and not flexible)

The reality is that the club face is making contact where it should. Seems to give me a better feel of inside out and I feel balanced after impact.

There are so many variables-club choice, your swing characteristics. We are all different so one thing may not work for all

Yesterday I was practising, and it was not bad! I´m improving my ball striking. A friend told me some points I was do it wrong: too close to the ball, move the ball back in my stance, and letting the club fall and accelerate after, just to avoid the COTT movement. The stance is critical.

    • Didn't score better, but made better swings on the course today. I found a bit of success on range pre-round, just hitting like what felt like 60-70% shots. It was more right elbow and right wrist angles in the downswing. Driver took a bit to work out the giant toe push draws I was hitting.
    • Played in the first round of Shawnee Hills  course tournament. went 42+46. Just lost energy on the back nine.  Lots of pars and way too many big scores. Course has a lot of areas to lose a golf ball. This is the adjusted score.  I had to return to the tee twice. The first the guy I played with didn’t tell me my ball bounced into the trees behind the green. 😡 the 2nd one I hit a decent draw over the corner of a slight dog leg left. I didn’t know 15-20 yards from the fairways was nasty weeds. I also 4 putted and 3 putted a few times. I flubbed like two chips. Too long of backswing.  I was happy with my ball striking. Probably B-. Found a bit of something on the range before the round. I’m starting to actually feel my right arm position better with what I am working on. I striped some irons today.
    • Birdied #4 at Quail Brook today. Tees were up today and it was only 146 to the flag. Hit it 12’ right of the hole and made the putt. That’s just my second birdie of the front nine at my home course this year? Man I’m playing like trash.
