My course has it listed as a spikeless facility.

I suppose you guys don't have any metal woods in your bag either.

Nope, all Persimmon woods for me. Metal woods just tear up the tee boxes to bad.

I used to wonder why the outside edge of my sneakers was wearing out. I spun out with my front foot and it was destroying the unreinforced foam. Golf shoes are designed to be stronger in places where they tend to take a lot of abuse. They also tend to have wider support in the forefoot to accommodate the spinny nature of the golf swing and what it does to your feet. I would roll over the sides of my sneakers because they're designed for different torques / stresses.

Which is why I wear Merrill hiking shoes.  They are designed for on and off trail, and do well for supporting the golf swing, as well as walking on sidehills and worse to get to the odd places where my ball keeps ending up.

I wear spiked golf shoes, white and brown. I couldn't imagine playing without them, wet grass, walking up and down hills, in and out of sand traps, etc. I thought about the shoes with the nubs for "spikes" but I hear they wear out pretty fast. If my spikes get worn down I simply change them. And my Jootjoys wear like a glove, very comfortable.

Add me to the list of folks that do wear golf shoes ... I use my cross trainers ... one less thing to carry and change at the course ...

I wear golf shoes but like others have said you only really need them when the grass is wet. Sometimes I golf barefoot - the greens feel great to my bare feet.

yes, absolutely.  i have some spikeless golf shoes but i dont wear them when its wet out.

i am still wondering about this "spikeless" course.  that HAS to mean just no METAL spikes, right??  i cant imagine a course restricting softspikes....
