What'd You Shoot Today?

I have been mired in a streak of mediocrity. Nothing but 81, 80, 82, 82, 81, etc. Finally broke the string with a 77 (8.0 differential). We will see if that is the exception or the start of a bit better play.

Seems to indicate the start of better play. I have been playing as often as possible to squeeze as many good scores as I can from the current hot streak. Played Pierce Lake this morning and managed a 78 today. The conditions have greatly assisted me: firm fairways, thinning rough, fast greens.

Broke my record today and it felt great. Front nine I was 8 over, then on back nine I was only 4 over until the 18th hole. I think I let it get to my head as it was an easy par 3 and I ended up sending the ball into the lake and got my first triple bogey of the day haha. Typical.

Nonetheless I can't complain, mostly pars and bogeys all day. Ended with an 83.

Played Musgrove Mill yesterday and 16 holes were open after Hurricane Helene overwhelmed 2 holes, which played as par 3 holes. Did not count those and skipped 18 after a group cut in front of us and I needed to leave.

Shot +9 with a 4-putt double on 1; a double on 9; and a quad on 10 after a drive in the middle of the fairway.

Made about a 90’ putt on 4 for birdie- the #1 handicap hole; spun a wedge on 11 that took the ridge all the way to the hole for a tap in birdie. Played perfect golf for the first 6 holes hitting every fairway and green. Missed the green short on 7, but pitched to 3.5’ and horseshoed my putt for a bogey. Overall, pretty happy with my play but need to limit my errors.

Shot 77 today - +7. Hit 14 greens in regulation. 37 putts - greens were very fast and pins cut in some mildly interesting spots around the way. It was one of those days where it was tough to get it dead from 15 feet, let alone 30-40 or so. Good for T15 going into round 2.

Round was quite something - went par, birdie, double, bogey, double, par, double, par, bogey, double, birdie, birdie, six pars to finish. -1 after 2, +9 after 10 and +7 after 18.

Had a 19 day layoff from all golf activity while we toured parts of Spain and visited grandsons in Sweden and England. Today was the big day and the weather cooperated with sun, little wind and temps in the mid-50's.

I was not expecting much and made sure to play a shorter set of tees (5,805 yards  68.4/121). Joined two gentlemen even older than me. Frankly, I was really surprised by the results: 75. Only one birdie but I managed to never 3-putt on some fast sloped greens. I am going to sleep well tonight (5.7 miles and 20 floors).

I have been on a roll in November. Today was a 77 (69.2/115, 6,050 yards) on a wet course with dew covered bumpy greens. Better greens and I might have shaved a few more strokes off the score.

Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
