Played (alone) today, a new-to-me course.  Literally alone, no one else in the group.  I shot an 81.  I'll get the data up to ShotScope tomorrow.  I feel I putted well.  No penalties, only one six (bogey on the opening hole, a par-5) and only one double bogey (par-3 14th;  hit a baked bunker after a really poor tee shot, hit out to basically nowhere, three putts).  17 GIRP.

Shot a 40 today. Just focusing on priority stuff. Took me like 4 holes to remember I can bring my arms down in the swing. 🤣

Been playing well lately (sad season here in colorado is almost over).

 

Last 3 rounds have been: -1,  even and -1 again.

 A late season grip change has been my most important for this improvement (my trail hand grip become too strong over time and was hooking everything)

Played 2 different courses on The St Lawrence River last few days shot a 41 on Friday and a 39 yesterday.  

Been playing Volvek balls lately at 82 yrs old it's really helped distance off the tee Friday averaged 217 and yesterday 226.

Thrill of the day : couple of long putts a 42 footer for a Bird and a 28 footer to save par .Love Fall golf along the St Larry

either hit some amazing shots or just terrible. Couldn’t get driver like 60ft off the ground 🤣. I stubbornly just kept hitting driver. You know, I wanted to hit a good one. I had like 7 shots enter a hazard. I hit some of the best iron shots in a long time. Just a strange day.

48+47 for a 95.  I can only blame so much on the greens being aerated, although that was part of it.  My driving was fantastic (one poor drive, but several fantastic drives).  My approach shots were a blend -- I think I picked good targets, but I hit six different bunkers;  two of the shots I left in the bunker, plus another I hit out into water.   So I guess my approach can't be described as great with that outcome (the hitting into sand).  I can only blame so much on some of the bunkers not having sand in them.   I can't really remember when, prior to today, I hit more than two bunkers in a round.   For what it's worth, three of the approach shots into bunkers were the result of hitting far past where I thought my approach was going to go (I thought those bunkers weren't in my expected result due to being too far from where I was hitting).   

I'll go back to the course next week when the greens are back, and hopefully I avoid the sand this time.

Played East Lake and show 92 from the members tees. 51 on the front nine and 41 on the back. Wish I could go back and play the front again to fix my score.

Today was a good day. Shot my best score yet however I managed to fumble and fail my goal of breaking 80.

Conditions were very wet and sloppy with very soft, soggy, mushy ground. Most balls plugged or only ended up a few feet past where there they landed because the ground was so soft and wet. However, something clicked today.
Broke my previous record of 84 and shot an 80 today. I also had 3 putts stop 1 inch short of the hole which was pretty frustrating since all I needed was 1 stroke to break 80 today haha. Oh well, I am extremely happy and had a blast!

Context:  while I have been practicing when I can, I have missed enough days that I'm not recording it for the "5 minutes daily challenge" until I believe I have the time to practice daily again.

Played Navy, from the white tees  (71.1/125/6463).  Shot an 86;  as I type this, my trend index is 14.5, so that's a good score for now.

Can you tell I've practiced primarily full swing?  SG in the three areas other than putting all beat the 5-handicap mark today.  I don't recall the last time I had such a great outing.  10 GIR helps, with three additional "hit the green on a full shot after having to play positionally on a previous one."  And on two of the near-GIR, I chipped one to about 10' and another to 4', which probably helped SG:SG score quite a bit (as did having so few short game shots).  18 GIRPs.

And yes, I know what I've been neglecting in practice   Don't worry, I know what I need to do... I just need to do that.

91 at De Woestekop (Axel) wednesday. Working on turning my fade into a
draw and it's starting to show on the longer holes, but the scoring
doesn't reflect it yet. Getting more distance off the tee at least. Short game was horrible.

Leslie Park - 41/38/79.  9.4 differential. This comes after several weeks of mediocre golf with my handicap index climbing to 10.8

Shot an 87 yesterday, despite hitting only two GIR.  😕 

I also had four very wasted shots in there:  hole 2, I hit my approach into what I can best describe as soft turf?  I don't know how to describe it.  My first two chips were, I thought, good attempts but both resulted in moving the ball maybe a foot or two.  I don't even know how to detect that condition in the future but now it scares me and I have to figure out what's going on.  Clearly I can't pitch from that kind of lie, but I have to have encountered it before, right?

On sticky grass (I don't know how to better describe) on hole 14, I thought I hit another good chip and the grass grabbed it and the ball went maybe a yard, not even to the green.  I walked right up and chipped to 6' or so.

And on hole 9, I hit my drive not only shorter than usual, but right, and I was behind a tree and had to play out sideways.  Once I did that, I still had a 5-iron into the green (I normally hit 9-iron or so into this one).

On the bright side, I parred every par-5 (there are three).  First two, GIR and a putt to a foot or two.  Third one, two good shots to have a pitch into the elevated green, had my perfect "half UI" shot to the pin with nothing but grass between me and it, didn't account for elevation (note to self: stop forgetting that on pitch shots) and came up just short of the green.  I still was able to putt from there to 2' and make my par. 

Okay, so I had some good to go with some bad.

Went 43 front 46 back for an 89 in a tournament today at Oberlin Golf Club.

Shot 99, not a great round but a lot of positives and I know I need to work on my shipping.  
 

Drives were mostly solid with only 2 really bad drives, and of course they were on the same hole!  It sucks  hitting three off the tee and then slicing the 2nd drive into tall grass and needing to drop. I had 4 GIR and 7 nGIR which is good for me.

Putting was strong with only one 3-Putt and Three 1-Putts, the test were all 2-Putts and a lot were short tsp-ins.

chipping was horrible!  Was not getting under he ball and bladed several and wasted several nGIR.

Shot an 85 yesterday (posts as an 84).  40 first nine, 45 second nine.  Only two holes worse than bogey:  a double on a par-4 and a totally preventable snowman on the par-5 18th (the one where Arnold Palmer once made a 12 during the L.A. Open).

Bogeyed every par-3.  Par-5s were 6-6-8 (there are only three).  Lots of work to improve upon these.  Especially performance on 18: wild tee shot, great recovery, good third I thought, but it somehow drew against a left-to-right wind and finished barely in bounds, where all I could do is smack with a putter towards the green.  And I did, leaving it in the rough for my fifth.  Chip way past the hole, putt 5' past the cup, a miss, and a tap in to complete the snowman. 

Played the par-4s in a cumulative 5-over (there are eleven), one of which was a double.  Strokes gained: par-4s during the round gains 2.16 over the 5-handicap baseline, that's pretty cool.

No birdies.  Only 5 GIR, 7 near-GIR, and one green hit on a full swing that wasn't for GIR (par-4 9th, drive, recovery, sand wedge to the green).

Shot 48 yesterday.  For me bogey golf is good.  I was 10 over through 7 and figured with a Par 3 and 4 coming on all I needed was birdie / par to get my 45.

I had a great tee shot on #8 and sunk  a 5 footer for birdie, game was coming together, now just needed par on #9.

Had a great tee drive and the green was within range for a hoped GIR or nGIR.  But I pulled the shot left into tall weeds and needed to take a drop.  So much for par, but a bogey for 46 is still good for me.

I hit my lob wedge to get over a small tree and saw the ball riding nicely  on line to the pin when my club hit the ball a 2nd time on my follow through causing the ball to change directions and ended up @ pin high but along the same tall weeds I just took an unplayable out of. 

had no room for a backswing, Just hacked at it and it shot across the green to the rough on the far side.  Needed a chip & 1 putt got a triple bogey.

+10 46 for nine holes

Struggle bus off the tee. No penalties either. I had to hit a punch shot like 4 times on my approach shots. Then it was short game woes. My body just doesn’t want to pivot and it’s causing a lot of inconsistencies. That and I two putted 8 out of 9 greens. Full swing irons were decent when I had a shot at it.
