i had a great front nine at lighthouse sound
its in ocean city md
shot a 42
with a 7! on a par 5, i also had a double bogey on a par 3, bad shot, and i had 2 birdies
i dont drive it so far, around 200 when i kill the ball lol :)
had great wedge play there on the front
and awesome putting
on the par 5 , number 2, i had an okay drive that ended up in the left bunker, tried to keep it away from the right side of the hole, alot of water
then i hit a 7 wood out of the ruff, right infront of the bunker, had a very good 7 wood shot
then took a nice little sand wedge, hit it up to within 5 feet of the pin
made the putt for birdie
then on the 8th hole par 4
i hit a very niice drive, right down the middle
took a good 7 iron (i think)
and putt 45-50 feet away
i hit the club well, just was aimed right, like always
and made that putt, it was a crazy breaker, where all you can do is close your eyes and hit the ball where you think it needs to go
the back nine was not so good
i was at a school there for 6 hours previous to this round
and was tired at the end
but i still pulled it together with a 93

I opened the first 8 holes at 1 over, 7 pars and a 3 putt bogey. At the turn hole I yanked one OB left and made a trip. Came in at 39 (4+).

Then when I parked the cart near the clubhouse I got swarmed with bees. They liked something in my cart and there was at least 30 or 40 of them. I had to hang in the clubhouse while this badass counter girl and some teenager working there doused my cart 5 times with Raid.

After the 5th blast, we decided I would hit the ground running. Away I went with the cart, Raid fumes choking me. No sunglasses, they were covered in raid. The hat I had hung on my 5 iron was covered in Raid. And by the 11th hole the Raid was just making this huge Japanese hornet mad as hell.

Determined, I reached the 18th with a 12 foot putt for a personal best of 78. I pushed it, miss read it, missaligned I don't know. But I didn't leave it short. The 8 inch comebacker tied my personal best and got me a 79. I went straight home to a cold shower to get rid of the chemicals, even before I posted on GHIN.

I shot a 75 at my home course playing with a couple of beginners who shot 133 and 134 respectively...and that was being generous on the rules.

Side note, my wife just about aced the par three 14th hole which plays about 100 yards for her. You can see a picture of how close at the link above.

Another side note, I put a new lob wedge into the bag for this round and really wasn't used to the ball checking on my chips. That is what I've got to practice now

I shot a 79 today. 40 + 39. I was thinking birdie, to shoot even par for the back nine, on the long (579 yds.) par 5 18th. I hooked my drive into the rough left, then popped my 3 wood almost straight up. I was 250 out at this point and I knew that I couldn't carry the water which fronts the green, so I laid up. I pulled a nine iron to the fringe, flubbed my chip, and lipped out my putt to finish the day with a double bogey. It was a good day though, I finished the day with the same ball that I started with.

Shot a 46 today on 9holes(par38). Not too bad of a round, started off poorly with 3 double bogeys, but finished the round strongly with 3 straights pars!

Highlights included a brilliant chip from 10yards out that missed the cup by a mere 6", and a 5i second shot that hit the flagstick!
Lows included my poor driver play today, and my 3wood that need maybe 3yards more to clear the water...

I love this game!

Shot 81 yesterday. 42, 39. My best score ever on the course. Not the toughest course in the world by any stretch but I always found a way to get in trouble. Some tight holes, lots of hills with blind approaches here and there.

Kind of an uneventful round really. I didn't do anything particularly well for the entire day but was able to score fairly well (for me).

Shot an 85 over the weekend at Champions Gate here in central FLA. Played the national course. Short game still seems a little off, but overall I was pleased with the score considering the difficulty of the course.

    • Congrats! Day 551, May 6, 2024 Played 18 holes with @DrizZzY hitting irons only and playing the white tees. No really "bad" shots, and a few really, really good ones. Finished on nine (they send us off 10 in May) with… a 197-yard 5I uphill and an 84-yard sand wedge to three feet.
    • Ahh the old classic "nobody agrees with me so I don't want to talk about it anymore"
    • @anaveragehacker, you’ve been ignorant this whole time and now you’re being disrespectful. Not a great combo. You asked what the rules were and we told you. You complained about them and we told you why they were the way they are. The “who is the committee?” Question has been answered a few times. Dave and I are Rules Officials and the other people replying know the rules far better than you, so the fact that we are all disagreeing with you should say something. this thread is going nowhere and your original question has been answered several times.
    • What is this committee I keep hearing about? We’re a small league playing at a county course. And these are temporary issues that may be gone in a day or two. In any case, I wish more people agreed with me. It seems that trying to convince golfers to modernize rules is like trying to change the Bible. You guys are so serious it kind of proves my point. Other sports make adjustments for  field conditions etc during lower level play. This isn’t life and death here, it’s sport. No need to keep arguing. I have my opinion and you have yours.
    • Yeah, I agree that some of the charts are hard to make sense of. That short game chart is showing how often a short game shot ends up within a certain distance. The orange bar is all shots, the green bar is for shots within 25 yards, and the blue bar is for shots between 25 and 50 yards. I just play around with all of it and will figure it out. I would suggest just diving in and see what jumps out and work on that.
