There is no need to follow the directions below. This topic was quite old. Please see the "How-To" page above.

This video should explain it.

Essentially, I paste the URL in (on its own line) and hit return. Then repeat until one (or more) of them embed.

It's annoying, but it works 100% of the time.

Thanks.  I hadn't been entering the URL multiple times--I was just entering the URL and then Enter 5 times or so and then waiting for something to happen.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for posting, sometimes you get lucky and the first one embeds but I rarely have to paste it more than three times. Still prefer it over the old site.

BTW, I'm fairly certain that if the video owner (on YouTube, let's say) disables embedding, the video will not embed.

Thanks for clearing that up. I noticed one time it embedded after a few minutes. i.e., seemed like there was an automatic repeat attempt loop.

As of about five minutes ago I think we (by "we" I mean 98% @Linville and 2% [if generous] me) have resolved this. I won't go into the details here except to say we've added a line to the constants.php file. It's worked every time in my testing now.

URLs on their own line with a return at the end of the line. Works every time so far.

P.S. It may still be important to make sure the URL is not formatted as a link. But, honestly, even that seems to work most of the time. So that might not even be that important.

      Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.

      Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.

      Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.

      Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.

No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
