The only problem is that the R&A cant really go back on the decision for as long as the Trumpster owns Turnberry. Cant risk being accused of double standards can they?

Should they really care?  Golf world will move on with or without Trump's courses in the short term.   In the long run, when all this Trump's political antics go away one way or the other, Trump's courses may be welcomed back.    Look how many made a villain out of Tiger when he was going through the scandal.   People have quickly forgotten about that.  It won't be whole lot different with Trump.  All things will be forgotten, and forgiven - even Trump.   American public is very forgiving that way.

I agree with the decision - it's what I would do, for sure.  Even though I am not a fan of Trump, it would be a business decision more than anything else.  There would likely be some boycotts by players, sponsors and fans.

Trump will never be President (can we just stop saying POTUS?).  If he somehow managed to secure the nomination, he'd only guarantee a victory for the Democrats.  Deep down, nobody wants the country to be run by a self-serving, publicity seeking clown/criminal.  He's just getting warmed up.  If he stays in it long enough, he'll eventually do or say something that turns absolutely everybody against him.

And I do think this decision will hurt Trump.  Every organization that publicly denounces him will serve to delegitimize and weaken him.  The R&A is a prestigious and historical organization - them basically saying "Trump's a horses arse" (I like how they say 'arse') will certainly have some effect on how others view him.  It may embolden other organizations to make similar decisions.

I run a 2 person consulting company and, for our part, we have severed all ties with Donald Trump and have disinvited him from the company Christmas party.  Bill Cosby, too.
