Prior to my sabbatical from this Discussion Board, I will post the videos of my golf swings on YouTube TODAY! I got the "gallery" of photos on my Verizon cell phone fixed yesterday!

Nobody really cares about your swing now that we know that you're probably a 10 handicapper. Don't bother.

And nobody's forcing you to go on any sabbatical. That has all the feel that you've been called out and are running away. Nothing more.

I am an OLD person.  Bigger print is better for old eyes that have seen much, both good and bad, but I can still eyeball distances up to 230 yards and choose the right club.

I do not run away from anything-----including my proposed match with and against you at the Monster Course at the Concord Hotel, near Kiamesha Lake

There are only a few thousand things I'd rather do first than play golf with some hacker who plays holes under 400 yards as a par five, considers fairways 40 yards wide as "tight," and who hasn't got a clue how to calculate a handicap despite listing his at 1.3 and starting a thread with the premise with which you started THIS thread.

No, Mitch, you see… it is not me who needs to prove anything here. That is you.

Mitch, Mitch, Mitch ... you need an intervention, and

It seems this thread is serving as one.

Awake, awake, awake, please. And you only have about 7 years on me, so it's never too late.

OK.  I will calm down.  Thank God I can still control my emotions and let logic and reason take over.  I have stated it before and I will state it again-I do like this Discussion Board.  Since I have been on it about 7 years ago, I have learned a lot.  It is important to follow the rules, and post in a polite and courteous manner.  Thanks for the intervention.

I'll come just to play it, someday. Yup, it's a monster all right. . .

BTW, I think you meant CR is 76 and not the par which is still 72 no matter what. The CR just means that's what a scratch will typically score based upon a 250 yard drive and making a 470 yard holes in 2 strokes on average.

Here's my guesstimate of what a scratch will do on the course playing the blue tees:

5    555    470 + S
4    458    <470
4    427    <470
5    585    possibly extra stroke
3    207    Hybrid
4    380    <470
3    231    possible extra stroke but likely scramble at >36%
4    443    <470
4    442    <470

4    416    <470
3    198    Hybrid
5    529    470 + S
4    392    <470
3    177    5i
4    481    possible extra stroke but likely scramble at >36%
5    572    possible extra stroke
4    420    <470
4    476    possible extra stroke

72        5 possible extra strokes but scrambling percentage would probably keep it at 4
        76 for scratch

OK.  Not only is it a beautiful course, designed by Joe Finger, but it is scenic, being cut through the trees, and the deer are constantly roaming around.  It utilizes rough, sand, trees and water to provide a beautiful setting and yet a very challenging course.  The scorecard warns you that the distances on the holes are measured from the front of the tees to the front of the greens!  On some par 3's, you have to do the math and add 30-40 yards to the distance specified on the scorecard.  On one par 3, before my late brother and I read the "fine print" on the scorecard, we dunked a ball each, before dropping 3 clubs in order to reach the green.  Anybody play the course?  Do you know which hole on the front 9 I am talking about?

@Lihu, follow along please.

He said par was 76 on his rinky dink course that is actually a par 36, but which he plays as a par 38 because he can't reach the two "long" holes (400 yards, 390 yards) from the white tees with a "perfect" driver and a "perfect" 3W.

The course rating for the course at which he established his "handicap" is probably about 69.0 with a slope of about 106.

I doubt Mitch breaks 100 from the back tees at that course on the scorecard you just posted.

@PEZGolf, you're skirting the issue, and ignoring it.

Please address your handicap, and then, the OP.

Yes, I agree that 69/106 is relatively easy for scratch and bogey.

Couple of things from this thread

1 -  Mitch, please stay with us and tone it down.   This is a very nice community, but more curated and moderated against disruptions.

2 -   I have played the Monster several times and if there isn't a thread, I should start one.   It's an interesting place.   My game has improved a lot (I was probably 20+ the last time I was there) and it would be interesting to see how I do.   The length alone just can cause issues for people who either spray the ball or are prone to bad shots. That par 3 being discussed is also quite uphill.   230 uphill par 3 from the men's tees.

3 -  If i read this correctly:

It's usually the other way around with the older good players. They hit farther than they can see and depend upon younger people to tell them where the ball lands. :-D

Nice beta on the course, please make a thread. It would be an interesting read no matter what.

Mitch (@PEZGolf), the only posts we'll approve here in this thread from you are those which directly address the OP and your own handicap until such time as we're satisfied in how those have been addressed, at which time you'll be welcome again to post everywhere else on the forum.

This is not difficult, nor is it asking too much.

In fact, it could be addressed as easily as admitting your fault and lack of knowledge, and then admitting how the OP was a ridiculous thing to say given your own likely 10+ handicap.

As fascinating as it is to read this train-wreck of a thread, I feel like we're all having a little fun with him, and are taking part in a bit of cyber-bullying. We know Mitch is bipolar, and may very well have other serious mental issues. Who knows, maybe he doesn't even play golf. I vote we leave Mitch alone, ignore his posts for now, and move on.

I agree, although I think Mitch enjoys the attention, it is hard to tell what the motivation behind it is, which could be anything from seriously just having fun trolling people to a real and desperate need for attention.
