I really love every one of those movies. OK, The Big Short less because it makes me angry and throw my phone across the room. Spotlight (people who are good at their jobs a la All the President's Men), Fury Road (blended visceral storytelling, action and acting) and Martian (more people good at their jobs, in space) a little more. But Room (heartbreaking tale of human survival and hope), Brooklyn (good old fashioned immigration pulling up bootstraps tale) and Spies (Spielberg does people good at their job via Tinker Tailor Spy) were so good.

George Miller got nominated for best picture and director.

Morricone always composed great music (The Ecstasy of gold is my all time favourite) so may have to watch the Hateful Eight.

Was suprised at Sam Smith as i thought it was one of the worst Bond theme tunes ever. You know my Name by Chris Cornell was the best bond song for me

We try to see most of the Best Picture movies and Best Actor/Supporting etc. We saw:

Room and Bridge of Spies (both excellent) and will check out Spotlight, The Revenant, Joy, Hateful Eight and The Big Short. I have no desire to see Mad Max.

Yes, that song was totally forgettable, especially coming after Skyfall.

I agree. When I saw the last bond movie I thought it was a pretty average song. Honestly the other songs were not overly impressive. Though I thought Lady Gaga's performance was really good.

I am glad to see Leo finally get his Oscar. He's had a few roles now that could have gotten him the Oscar in the past.  He could have shoved the whole climate change speech, but oh well.

I will have to rent Mad Max, though I think I should have saw it in theaters to get the full effect.

I have no want to watch Spotlight. I thought Chris Rock did a great job hosting the Oscar's.

Bridge of Spies doesn't get a lot of hype or talk, but I really liked it.

dude, Mad Max is NOT just an action movie.  it is genuinely a FILM.  it is absolutely incredible. it stays with you for weeks, and you find yourself replaying things in your head.  it floored me and i wouldve been ok with it winning best picture had it been nominated.

The movie just doesn't appeal to me at all.

im glad Brie Larson won for Room. i thought she was incredible.  the nuance in her face, just trying to keep her head together to do what she could for the boy. that was amazing acting.

and she looked BANGING in that blue dress...

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
