I find it difficult to reach this club parallel position we see so often. I'm not sure if it's because I can't achieve enough body turn or that it feels unnatural  to bend the wrists that much. If I force my wrists to bend that much it fees like my grip starts to loosen.

Any tips on how to get there?

If you can't then don't. There is not requirement saying you need to reach parallel to the ground. Actually I think it's more beneficial to be slightly short of parallel. First, it makes it easier not to overswing if just short is your average. Second, you are not loosing tension in the  muscles, and you can deliver with more force. Third, it can keep you from not getting out of sync with your downswing turn rates.

When I overswing everything feels long. When I swing shorter than parallel I feel like I can really drive harder through the ball with more control.

My best guess would be if your turn rates are off you can struggle to get to parallel.

I would post a video of your swing creating your own My Swing thread on the forum. No way to tell for sure exactly with out seeing your swing.

Impressive video. I definitely have the problem of the one on the left.

Then coupled with that video I would look at this thread,

I'm with @saevel25 on this one. In fact, when I make a swing with 3/4 as my target on the BS, I typically hit it as far or farther than I do when I try to go further back. I also have spun the ball backwards with 3/4 shots but never full swings. I think I just get better contact.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Same I actually try to avoid that.. I have the opposite problem what feels like 3/4 is some weird arm lifting move and I get loose at the top past parallel. My feel and pre shot thought is half way back that gets me to where I need to be. And yeah the shorter my BS the better I strike it.

    • Ahh the 'gap wood'. Allegedly more control than a traditional driver and more distance than a 3-wood. While it sounds logical on paper, the more I think about it, the more I am confounded by the existence of this tool. Bit skeptical that most us weekenders that are not better than maybe a 2- handicap can effectively land in this 'uncharted' thin gap between a 3 wood and a driver with any sort of reasonable consistency. For me the venn diagram of these two traditional clubs from a control perspectives is almost a single circle given the wide (and diffused) yardage and direction spreads.  @ChetlovesMer, name her "Minnie" and maybe will hunt you some good will..😝. Kidding aside, I am interested on how it works out for you. Not too proud to be singing a different song if convinced. Have fun!
