Following the huge success at Woburn Golf Club last year, when all 15,000 free tickets were snapped up in less than 48 hours, this year’s allocation has been increased to 20,000 for the opening day of the 2016 British Masters.

From 10am on Friday 15 April, Sky customers will be able to take advantage of an extended, exclusive 72 hour ‘pre-sale’ giving them first option on the free ticket offer for round one of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports. Tickets will be limited to a maximum of two per person.

Point taken, but last year's event at Woburn was a major success due to a decent field, great course, free and massively discounted tickets for under 21s and loads of innovations, most spearheaded by Sky. Things like filmed hour-long masterclasses from Poulter, Donald, Rose, Harrington and Westwood (which I still have saved on my box - they're really good), among others; Nick Dougherty talking you round the course, wearing a microphone whilst playing; greenside robot cameras for cool angles on pitch shots and putting etc.

Certainly not a necessary strategy for majors, but if the European Tour keep trying things like this, they will generate interest. I'm not convinced the PGA Tour is showing the same level of insight and instead basically resting on the fact that they have more money. Granted, that will get them a long way, but I think it's good that someone is trying to push the game forward and encourage more youngsters.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

Can't edit the above post any more so sorry for the double post.

Decided to get tickets for the Sunday - not free, but should be worth going to. I'm going to take my little brother as well; neither of us have ever been to a tournament so it'll be great fun. I'm trying to get him interested in golf, so hopefully this will be another push along the way.
