Odd thing is, the Stadium Course really is that type of venue. I'm really quite shocked at the numbers these guys are putting up there. That place is straight up hard! Out of the 12 or so times I've played there, I've only managed to break 80 twice. 75 is my lowest.

When I saw the highlights last night, the course didn't look nearly as gentle as my impression, based on the scores. I guess these guys really step it up with their livelihood on the line.

Many are called; few are chosen.

Only the top-25 and ties in the Final Stage of Q-School get Tour Cards for '09.
On the other hand, all players in the Final Stage of Q-School will receive some kind of status for the '09 Nationwide Tour.

Frazar just shot a 59! Truly amazing. He could've shot a 58 but his putt was just a tad bit off.

Look at this scorecard. Holy Mackarel!!!

http://www.pgatour.com/players/02/18...2008/r088.html The Nicklaus Course got killed today. Along with the 59 DJ Brigham shot 9 under, with a double bogey!? A few 8unders in there too. CRAZY! I will say from experience, there is a bit of a difference between the Nicklaus and Stadium courses. But wow, this is something else. Serious scoring!

I noticed that Big Breakers Tommy Gainey and Matt Every are paired together on Sunday, an early tee time at 8:10 AM. They are T42 at -11 and playing the more difficult Stadium Course. The way that event is going with lights out scoring, they'll probably need a 65 or 66 tomorrow to be sitting on the cut line of top 25 and ties heading into Monday's final round.

Congrats to Brian Stuard -- assuming he closes the deal today. He's from my hometown (Jackson, MI) and I've played in local tournaments with him. Decent guy...

notah begay, birdied final 3 holes to make it by one

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

It wouldn't be Q-School if someone didn't do either this or bogey the last 3 to miss by one.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

One guy (can't remember his name) was one over the cut line heading into the the 13th. He made triple then double.

As for rooting for the grad's I'm going to be rooting for Jason Dufner, Derek Fathauer, and James Oh.

    • Day 563, May 18, 2024 Was going to play today, but we waited on the first tee for 15 minutes, watched three of the four players lose their golf balls, and went to the range (with @DrizZzY). I was hitting some hybrids 250 on the range, comfortably, repeatably.
    • Give it time. if Hatton misses another shot he might launch his club & hit someone .
    • That’s a pre Sunday leaderboard I can like.
    • The best was Tommy Gainey in the prostitution sting a few years ago. Now that was funny.
    • Played Musgrove Mill GC today. 72.3/155. First round in 4 weeks and shot 44-39. 2 triple bogies on the front and horseshoed 4 putts today. Overall, 10 fairways, 8 GIR and 31 putts.  Set a goal today to par the 3 toughest holes (4, 18 and 9) and birdie 10 or 12 (which I have never birdied). Parred 4, 9 and birdied 10. Crushed my drive on 18 and had 139 left, but in casual water. Dropped back a little ways and took an extra club. Hit my 8-iron well but it came up short. Bunker shot from wet sand left me an 18’ for my goal. Read the break well but perhaps an inch too much break, and a touch heavy on the speed. Ball circled the hole 270* and tapped in for a bogey. Handicap dropped 0.1.
