I think it's your left elbow. You get it so far behind you in transition

I've noticed that before, but never given it much thought.  I was actually checking out your Swing Thread earlier, and it looks like you're also working on steep vs. shallow...I'm jealous of your backyard set-up!

I made a mistake taking that single lesson a couple weeks ago as I just picked a random instructor who was close by without doing any research.  Instead of leaving with one key to improve upon, I'm now "supposed to": hinge the club earlier, get the hands high like Justin Thomas, keep my weight on the inner-half of my back foot, initiate downswing with hip & torso turn, all while getting the arms/hands/handle moving in-&-around after contact 🤪.

The position of your trail elbow affects your wrists, which in turn affects the shaft position. Think about if you were holding tray full of drinks; you hold it flat by having your elbow down, not flared out to the side.

Yea we have the same issue with the trail elbow transitioning behind the torso a bit, getting into IR too early. Steepens the shaft.

It's just an old doormat, a broken Fairway Pro, and a RukkNet. If I had my way, it would be so much better (and indoors) :-)

I don't have the space in the house, unfortunately.

That's quite a lot. Plus you don't have a hip turn issue in the downswing IMO. You'd probably make the elbow issue worse if you initiated the downswing with a hip turn, feel-wise. I know if I do it, I reach impact like Jim Furyk with my trail elbow way behind me, only without his ridiculous accuracy. I'd take Jim Furyk's swing if I could hit the ball as well as he does.

Really focused on not letting that trail elbow get too far behind during this week's range-work.  The exaggerated move in my slow repetitions has been to feel like my elbows/forearms are pinned together through the backswing and at the top.   After a handful of hosel rockets, I've seen some decent, albeit incremental, steepness improvements...and it's actually helped to square the face a little more at the top.  I let a few rip to finish off today's batch, with most flying within my imaginary fairway and dropping with a little cut in gusty right-to-left wind.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
