Hello all, new member from Nevada. I am 36 now and started playing golf somewhere around 20ish in college, but it was primarily a vehicle for friends and heavy drinking. I recently ( 2years or so) started trying to get back into golf. I am very athletic and have always excelled at sports, but golf has been extremely frustrating and humbling. My wife says I overthink everything also lol, but Im an engineer and love(need) data. I have a inexpensive simulator at home that has helped facilitate that. I think Im finally getting to a solid swing and still progressing, and the rest is mental. My average score has lowered from 110s to 90s in those 2 years, with some 9 hole rounds in low 40s. Until I play in a tournament, then Im back in upsetting triple digits. In the bag I have a set of 1Iron brand irons and wedges that I love and spout off on given the chance. I hate fairway woods, but I carry one around for some reason, but always hit a 3 iron instead. I just switched from a Callaway X2 hot driver to a Grenade driver yesterday.I planned on waiting and doing a professional fitting with a simulator, but the price and story were too good to not give the Grenade a go. Very excited so far, but triggered a pile of questions for me and is the reason Im joining the forum!

Probably enough about me for now, look forward to meeting you all!

Welcome to our corner of the internet, I hope you enjoy it!

One good way to get help in improving your swing is by posting videos of your swing here:

https://thesandtrap.com/forums/forum/13-member-swings/

You'll get tips on improvement from some very solid instructors.  Be sure to open up the Hidden Contents near the top of that page to understand how to film the video to make it useful.

    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
