Hi, All.

Hacker from San Antonio, here.  I actually just started back to swinging this month after nearly two years off for a career change + new baby phase.

Turns out carrying a chunky toddler around all of the time boosts your swing speed to a pretty impressive degree, hah.  That said, long but wrong is a terrible way to move around the course.

I hopped back into the forum -- I was a lurker a few years ago to scout out some gear, ruminate occasionally about why I stink at golf (Because practice time is nearly non-existent, the end), and see if I can come across a local or two to play a round with.

Talking Gear:

The bag is terribly dated, and I was bargain hunting old used stuff when I put it together... Oh, probably five years ago or so.  That said, I still like most of my clubs, and might be all set with just a bit of refurbishing.

Driver: Nickent 4DX.  Still love my driver, but it's probably got nothing to do with the head.  Ever since I shaved a couple of inches of length off the shaft and stuck a midsize Winn wrap on there it magically became one of the most trustworthy sticks in my bag.  Since getting back to golf with my newfound toddler-wrangling strength (I guess), I've a bit of a tendency to balloon the thing.  I don't actually remember if it's the 10.5 or 9.5.  Whichever it is probably needs to be a smaller number.  Misses include the nasty pull-hook.  I dread to mention the hideous push that evolved from for fear of its return.

FW: I still kind of like the 3w, a Ping G5.  Hate the grip.  I have a Nike 5w that I completely hate.  I periodically take it out of the bag, hit an ugly low slicing burner, and remind it how much I despise it.  In moments of reflection like these, I wonder why I still have it.

Irons: Adams Idea Black CB2 Forged 4-GW.  The grips are literally disintegrating, but I'm trying to decide if I want to just regrip them or do something different.  I've become quite attached to the 4i.  Pretty consistent low boring flight, can occasionally roll out forever on a summer Texas course.  Get some fairways around here that might as well be cart path when it's dry.

Wedges: 54* and 58* TM... an xFT line, don't remember which.  A strong 'meh' here.  My wedge and short iron game is currently a mess, and not the sticks' fault.  Last time I played with any regularity, I was solid from about the 8i down and spraying anything longer who-knows-where.  I have reversed this entirely in my time off.

Talking Swings:

I'm a shortish long-limbed lefty, hover around mid-high 90's driver SS.  Capable of a pretty nasty hook, slices are a curious novelty.  Used to have more of a wedge game that would recover from tee disasters to about a 15HC.  Now more likely to blow-up a pretty tee shot to a 20-something.  Have a few ideas of what all needs fixed, though not the free hours to groove said fixes so we're just in it for the fun and outdoor time and not the delusions of chasing single digits.

Talking Courses:

I'm far north-central San Antonio.  Favorite course is probably Silverhorn for the value/condition balance but I'm not picky.

Talking Visual Aids:

1.) The divot from my first, last, and only ace.  Tiny short hole, think it was something like 120-130 yards that day.  I do not care, it was awesome and encouraged many future years of stinking at golf.

2.) Demonstrating my likely false belief that Tevas are perfectly stable golf footwear.  Also, terrible defense against fire ants.

I think you intimidated other people by posting so much in your first post.

welcome. I will resist the temptation to quote a line from the movie "Officer and a Gentleman" (at least I think that is the title) starring Richard Gere. I've only been to San Antonio once while visiting a cousin in Corpus. Note the Tevas, similar to my "practice" sandals in the back yard.

Thanks, all.

Yeah, the Tevas are downright hazardous on most Texan soil that you have to stand still upon for any length of time.  Just begging to be taken out by fire ants.

San Antonio has some decent course options and a -technically- long potential season of good weather, though Summer can be rough.  It's just now starting to drift down into the low 80s.
