I just had ATT Gigapower service installed at my house and good grief is it fast...If you can get it I wouldn't hesitate, especially if you already have ATT Uverse...pix below, speed diferences are due to the older/newer radios in my devices.

I'm still lucky to get 55-60 Mbps down and 6 up.

The local ISP is trying really hard to get fiber to the home here, but it's probably still a ways out.

With the merger you might get, ahem, to use a very bizhead word, certain. synergies, probably more and faster access to content from Time Warner, but these mega mergers scare the sh*t out of me.

The Time Warner merger probably won't happen until the end of 2017, if then.. They are also testing out a new option called Airgig which will utilize the power lines that are already in place. This is supposed to get high speed internet to all the rural areas that don't have access to fiber. I don't know that any "new" Uverse equipment is being installed. It's been halted in our area for quite some time

I'm so tempted to move somewhere where I can get the giga stuff but I really don't want to live in a large city again, and the smaller cities that currently have it aren't particularly appealing either.  Sucks...

good to hear about those speeds.  fibers are being buried in my neighborhood now for AT&T gigapower, north Georgia suburbs.  I'm anticipating switching over in the next few months and cutting the cable simultaneously.
