drawing the ball all day long...
got to a par3 with the teebox on the left hand side and the pin cut on the far right...
forced carry over water... cartpath on the right... this was not the time to have a draw/hook... opened the face of my 5i slightly... opened my stance a lil bit... hit a towering push... cursing my shot... picking up my tee... i hear my playing partner go "OHHHH"... i look up... ball ends up on the collar pin high right 3ft out

Coming up 18 at one over par. My drive was right into the thick rough. I had to punch out to the fairway. From 115 I stuck a 52˚ wedge right behind the flag and spun it back to within five feet . Made the par.

My story is kind of crazy!

Playing yesterday on a 511 yard par 5. Hit the drive really well, and it was perfect... felt so good about it. Got up and lined up my 2nd shot, had a 4 iron in hand, and hit the ball and knew it was really good. It caught a hill right beside the green and bounced up very little. I was in the area as to where, I was going to chip to hole out. I was walking up gleaming as the guys stood by the little food cart and walked to see my ball.

Waited on my friend to hit his shot. Got up to my ball and it was missing in action. I literally looked 5 minutes and couldnt find it. Came to the conclusion those punks took my ball!

So I was absolutely PO'd. Dropped a ball right there and chipped it very angry and left it 20 feet past the hole. So, I still have a putt for birdie (no, I didnt penalize myself). I am still steaming at the point they took my ball.

Walk up to the green and I dont even look at the cup or anything, just walked and with my back turned, I just hit the putt. Not caring where it went or anything, next thing I know, I look back and sure enough that bad boy went right into the cup!

So pretty much, I had a no look putt from 20 feet away and sank it! Maybe I should start putting like that more often!

great round today... but the best shot i hit was right after the worst shot...
yanked my drive onto the teebox of another hole leaving me a narrow shot to the green 180 out... so my 2 choices were... fit it between the trees or fly it over the trees... as i was about to take the shot a group came up on me and was wonder why i was facing the wrong way for my teeshot... lol...
pulled my 7w... popped a high weak fade... clipped the very top of the tree on the right... ball checked really hard right in the middle of the green... hero shot of the day
RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

Playing a scramble yesterday and one of my friends was already in-line with the green.
We were 190 yards out and as a mess I took out a bladed 3 iron I have that I use if I need to hit a few punch shots.
I hit it perfect.
the bass flew high and straight and landed and stopped on the green.

I was ecstatic.

My best shots always happen on the 15th at Woodmont. Back-left pin, about 190 yards off the tee. Aim for the tree to the left of the green, play the ball just a bit back in my stance, and play a running draw with my 4-iron. I don't have my contact lenses in, so I can't see the ball land; I know that it felt good, sounded good, and looked hot until I lost it. I see something emerge from the shaded part of the green and run up to the flagstick. It's either a leaf or my ball. My playing partner pulls out his rangefinder; it's not a leaf. Tap-in birdies never get old.

215 par3 hole cut in the very front... trap on the left... false front... water running along the left and front of the teebox... pulled 4w and laid into it... really really pretty draw tracking straight for the pin... hit the collar rolled up to the hole... bounced straight off the flag down the false front... almost an ace! i chipped in for birdie instead

Got cute off the tee on a par-4, sitting 2 from 30 yards, chip hit the flagstick, tap-in par. Next hole, after also getting cute, chipped in from 30 yards for par. Quite typical and also why I am working on ballstriking 90% of the time instead of the short game.

Alvaro Quiros somehow channeled into my body the other day. The wind was howling - straight from tee to green on the 9th hole, a 490 yard par 5.

I waited for the group in front of me to hit their second, third and (one) fourth shots... then they stopped at about 140 out and waited for the green to clear. I figured I was OK to go, as they were parked just in front of where my previous longest drive on that hole had rolled to.

I uncorked a massive blast - I teed it super high and played it left of normal - and gave it a huge, balanced rip. The ball shot off of the face and into flight. I knew when I hit it it could be dangerous.

I ended up flying they 200 marker, catching a big kick and rolling out in the fairway at exactly 116 from the flag. 490 - 116 = 374. My ball was PAST the group waiting to hit to the green. Past all of their balls... No one got hurt. They were all like " wtf ?"

One lady said - "That's nearly 400 yards - you should measure that."
she followed quickly with - "You'll probably make par!"

Driver, 56˚ wedge 2 putt birdie. Quiros would've been proud.

CRAZY. Definitely the longest drive I've ever hit. Ever.

56° wedge from 116 sounds right after that drive. That sounds like Texas wind. 400 yard drives are not uncommon here.

Never done this before. Par 4, 383 yards, find myself in right nearside bunker (wet). Need to get up and down for bogey. 48' wedge, low bounce, didn't take much sand, pops out nicely although with speed, straight into the cup. Par!

Since I am new to golfing it dose not take much to make me happy. My best shot last Thursday was my first tee shot of the day, it went long and straight rather then into the woods or road. After that, the rest of my tee shots were great as well.

8am in Arizona at Legend Trail on number two. Great drive to about 155 out and I hit 8 iron which bounced once, twice, flag, dunk. First eagle on a par 4 for me. Even after 2 :)

Hit my 3 wood farther off the fairway then usual. I am not sure how I did it but tried to repeat the swing several times but was not successful.

I was about 240 yards away into the wind and hit the ball and it sound it different and just shot off the club face and I ended up pin high just right of the hole on a par 5 I have played many times, always ending up 30 - 40 yards short of the hole.

Holy smokes, I did not know I had it in me, to hit it so well.

I took out 3 wood off the tee which i normally don't but my drive have been getting quite bad so i bomb a 3 wood and ends up middle of the fairway and as far as i could have driven it anyway i was stoked.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

Played Saturday, started on the back on my nemesis hole #10.
490 yard Par 5, plays really tough, and I've never made par on it.
2nd shot took the hybrid to the edge of the green about 15 feet out. Missed the eagle, but tapped in the bird! First time I have got that 2nd shot close.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
