I've had a couple aces but the most fun/memorable one was a long hole-out on a par four.  I had pulled my tee shot into some trees and it bounced out into the first cut.  The hole was dogleg left and a bit downhill.  I couldn't see the green and had about 210 left and just decided to hook a three iron down the hill and get it on/near the green.  I flushed it and knew it was going to be decent and started walking. The guy I was playing with and I couldn't see my ball anywhere when we walked down the hill.  I thought it was over the green but when I walked past the cup, there it was.

This was before any holes-in-one I had so I was pretty pumped.  I've had other hole-outs with wedges but that was, by far, the best one I've had.

Fairways and Greens.

My best one came on my only eagle.

I was in a greenside bunker in two on a downhill 480 yard par 5.  Holed the sand shot for the only eagle I have.  I really have not even come close to an eagle other than that.

But, some people were upset because I putted off the green and then chipped in.

Interesting.. What was the final verdict? You can do this from a bunker right (putt out & then chip)?

After catching my 6-iron fat, I pitched in for birdie from 42 yards out. A nice high shot from the rough, well struck, soft landing, and a slow steady roll-out before finally plopping down. This was on the 17th hole: I went on to bogie the Par 5 18th .

I knew I had probably broken 100 for the first time that day, though I didn’t dare tally my scorecard. What I didn’t know until afterward, was I had also broken 90. That birdie wound up being the difference. That afternoon I learned to never give up on a hole, no matter where my tee shot goes.

I've had a good amount of hole outs, but there are three that are memorable for me. The first was when I was in high school and we were playing a practice round. We were on the fourth hole, a longish par four with water down the left and I hit one of the worst drives. It barely makes it past the ladies tees and is in the left rough well sort of the water. My second is a shank and ends up in the right rough, 150 out. I then proceed to put a great swing on the ball and hole out from 150 for birdie.

The second that stands out was one of the few times my wife has been on the course with me. She was just riding and I hit a really great drive leaving myself about 120 to the pin. I tell her as we're coming up to the ball that even though the pin is on the left I want to hit it to the center because of a ridge on the green that will take the ball towards the hole. I hit a great 9 iron that does exactly what I told her and it ends up in the cup for eagle.

The most memorable, of course, is my hole in one. Number 4 on Terra Lago South. 150ish yards, down hill. I hit a perfect 7 iron and watched it hit and roll into the cup.

Final verdict for that day was that I got the dozen balls as a prize, but I think I was supposed to feel ashamed :-( when I played with them.

Again, the business law professors can resolve any similar disputes at future tournaments. The rule probably will be a chip-in must be "your first shot from off the green within 50 yards of the green..." or something like that. Being I no longer live in Texas, I'm not too worried about it.
