  1. 1. Which category describes your game at the moment?

    • Just starting out. Golf is new to me, and I'm devouring it all, trying to make sense of the information, and I'm sure progress will come.

    • Plateau. I've been playing a while, but can't seem to make any progress- oh well, I guess this is it.
    • Arrived and pleased. I've been playing a while, and I can get around a course. My game travels, and I can probably maintain it here if I just play regularly.
    • On the cusp. I feel like breakthroughs are right around the corner. This time, my handicap will dip by a few strokes- I can feel it!
    • Backsliding. I hate golf. How much can I get for my set, I wonder.
    • Dormant. I'll pick back up another time and see where I am and make decisions about how hard I need to work from there.
    • Other? Explain.

At the present time my game is failing but it usually does this time of year. Driver low and pulled to left. Cant hit greens. Fat shots. Chipping no touch. Putting is atrocious with different grips being used. I think practicing off mat this winter has caused me to hit shots fat because it doesnt give like soft ground. Last year was real struggle except for  handful of good rounds. Sometimes  wonder if ill ever play well again.

Its winter and haven't played since Oct 31

Range practice has been promising. Looking forward to how this transfers to real grass.

Lat year was holding my own with folks i was playing with. Previous year they were beating me regularly.

On the cusp for me.  I'm finally comfortable with my swing - don't get me wrong, there's definitely room for improvement but it's a good enough swing to get around the course.  I'm working on course management now.  Most of my extra strokes come from dumb decisions.  Things like trying to split the branches of a pine tree with a 5 wood (off the pine straw at that!) instead of chipping back on the fairway.  This may sound kind of silly but I feel I'm only 2 blow up holes away from dropping my handicap significantly.

Going with dormant since I have no idea of what to expect considering I haven't been on a course since late last summer. Today was the first day I've touched a club in at least 5 months. Last year I went from playing over 100 rounds in 2015 to maybe 20 rounds and I rarely practiced. I intend to head out Sunday and the goal will be to keep it under 90, my guess is that is wishful thinking.

Dave :-)

I previously posted saying my game had gone to hell in a handcart. Well, I just went away for a week, which in turn meant my body was rested for 10 days in total. I have returned the best golfer on the planet (well almost). Funny what a rest can do !!

In my bag (Motocaddy Light)

Taylormade Burner driver, Taylormade 4 wood, 3 x Ping Karsten Hybrids, 6-SW Ping Karsten irons with reg flex graphite shafts. Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!
