Few golf courses in the world have the fabled history of Oakmont Country Club, a National Historic Landmark and host of nineteen major championships to date. Now, you can tour the historic clubhouse and golf course on certain Monday mornings, April through December.

Participants will be guided through our handsomely preserved 113-year-old clubhouse by one of our golf historians. Learn about the founding of the club in 1903 and the family that made it all possible. A stroll down History Hall illustrates the history of the US Open at Oakmont, with historic photographs, memorabilia, and championship artifacts. Gaze upon our collection of USGA trophies and see the original men’s locker room.

Weather permitting, guests will tour the historic “inland links” golf course and see the extraordinary vistas, narrow fairways, treacherous sand bunkers, and iconic “Church Pew” bunker. Guests will also have the opportunity to test their putting skills on Oakmont’s world-renowned putting surfaces.

The tour ends at the Oakmont Professional Shop, where guests may browse through a wonderful selection of apparel, equipment, and memorabilia only available at Oakmont Country Club.

Wow! That's pretty cool. I'd like to go just to quiz the historian. My Mom is convinced that my Uncle was the pro there just prior to WWII. I never knew him because he died in the war, but his Brother, my Uncle Andy, Was pro at another country club in the area at the same time, and was one Hell of a golfer! When I'd marvel of the shots he'd hit he would always say, "Ah, you should have seen me and my Brother when we were in our primes!"

I hate to be "that guy" but I've played it multiple times, and have attended US Opens there. It's great, but I can honestly say that I would want to belong there even if being accepted and the money to spend weren't obstacles. It's too tough to play everyday, and I strongly dislike the high-level formality.

But if I hadn't done those things, I'd take the tour. It's a super cool place and is just a fascinating course. The most amazing part of the course is that even though the greens are insanely difficult, I've never felt they were unfair. Of course if you get six feet above certain hole locations, you're in enormous trouble. It's hard to explain. Maybe @iacas could do it better.

I'd belong there. Such a challenge, lots of memories. Ten rounds to play in my life… I might go 5 and 5 between Oakmont and the Old Course.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
