I know some of you may be weary of some of my bothersome ideas, but I can't help but pass something along that works (for me).

I was fooling around (as usual) and slipped a piece of pool noodle over my putter grip. (Home made "fat grip"). Amazing feel. You cannot grip it too tightly.  Then I decided to try it on an iron. Just wet the grip a bit, push the pool noodle on. I have long fingers, so this really helps. Again, impossible to grip too tightly and much to my surprize, seems to make hitting a draw automatically. I could hit them all day long without effort. The sound at impact is a bit weird  Its a kind of dull popping sound and not sure what causes it, but I do not mind it at all.  Only downside is, you won't be able to put the club in your bag unless you have one with wall dividers. Its okay though, can always slip into one of the pockets. You could also wedge it in the same "slot: as your putter.

What is the point of this?

I mean-Let us be realistic. Nobody is going to do this. It is pointless.

Besides I think it could be dangerous if the club comes flying out of the noodle and I think you could still squeeze it too firmly.

Only one?

I would think a noodle would be so thick you'd almost be better off finagling the club heads into the bag side and leave the noodle grips up.

Get a 14 position gun rack and mount it to the back of your cart.

Only takes one.  anyway...I wonder if when they came out with the "fat grip" putter, there were a few naysayers. Then there is Fosbury.  To your point however...Once I try it on the course, the idea will probably be very short lived. But then again.......?

Putting is not the full swing. Nor are putter grips 3.5” in diameter.

No offense @Hacker James, but this thread reminds me of when my newly retired dad tied strings and pulleys to the cabinet doors such that every time you open the cabinet, the trash can would pop out on some slides and the top would pop open. Also, his ceiling drywall mounting machine with cranks an pulleys that looked like something from a Leonardo DaVinci sketch. And many more, until my mom made him get a proper hobby. :-D

Most pool noodles are much thicker.

Here’s something I rarely say… “I’m with @Lihu on this one.”

@Lihu none taken. Not a real serious thread to begin with, just messin around. I've seen a lot of other screwy ideas that became a broken paradigm. 'sides that is what the scroll bar is for, that and "ignore" member function. ( I have only two on my list).

Standard Pool Noodles are 2 inches outside diameter not 3.5 inches (those are called Jumbo). Google it.

Not much larger (if at all) than Putter Fat Grips

Decide for yourself whether the application is for you, if not, then don't. Otherwise, maybe divert your attention on whether or not to drape a towel across your golf bag, all the while describing the dimensions, thread quality, nap, and important stuff like that.

Meanwhile, wait breathlessly for my latest nonsensical, incarnation deserving of your meticulous scrutiny.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
