I’ve been a ‘ I can do this alone’ player for a long time. Only since joining this site have I learned without question I can’t. I highly recommend Evolvr. I’ve just joined and 2 months in I’m making improvements that I’ve not been able to do before.

Thanks, Kevin. You're not the first, and you won't be the last… 🙂 https://evolvr.com/

All great advice guys. Maybe when we defrost here in Minnesota I can get out and film some swings.

I have a similar question, it's about sequencing.  This is a puzzle to me.  How would a new golfer sequence these things?

-hire an instructor/evolvr

-get fitted for clubs

-purchase better clubs

-learn to hit consistently without duffing/blading shots aka muscle memory

BTW, if it helps, my swing thread is on this site:

I'm not a golf coach by any means, but IMO, those things you listed aren't mutually exclusive.

Hiring an instructor/evolvr will put you on the path of learning how to make consistent solid contact.

You can purchase clubs the same time you get fit for them, or you can purchase a club you know you need to fill a gap (like a certain wedge for example) without getting fit for it.

As to whether you should get fit before or after lessons, I can see both sides of the argument. One side says lessons will likely change your swing a lot so wait a bit before getting custom fit, the other side of the argument says get custom fit asap because it is one less variable you have to worry about/account for. I don't know which one is right/wrong. A lot depends on your budget and how frequently you plan on buying new clubs. If you plan on buying new clubs every other year then sure get fit now and then in a few years once your swing is better go get fit again into different clubs.

    • We do not buy extended warranties. We will use one of our credit cards for the purchase that extends the warranty "x 2". Our thoughts are: a. if the item is a lemon, it will likely break right away and we can attempt to apply the original warranty or credit card extension. b. over the long haul, we will probably save more money by not purchasing the extended warranty and fixing/junking broken items out of our own pocket. The important thing is to keep some records of purchases so one may make a claim under the manufacturer's warranty. I recently sent back some Footjoy shoes for leaking and Footjoy did a reat job of making the claim process work very well. I had the original receipt, warrant info and box. Easy peasy.

    • This is pretty much how I look at it.  I understand there are times when the piece of mind has value. I think over the long haul I'm money ahead by never buying the extended warrantee. Hell, What do I know? I went to Ch!cago PubIic SchooIs.
