I was talked into picking up an xBox One several months ago, and one of the games I picked up is TGC 2.  It’s a fun game, beyond the commentary being annoying.

Does anyone else here play the game?  Thought it might be fun to start a club/society (you can create your own club/society in the game, and play against other clubs)... especially over the winter season.

I've been meaning to buy it but haven't pulled the trigger. I liked the first one fine enough but realized pretty quickly that the main draw of a golf video game is being able to play the real life courses.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

So having access to an X-Box One, how does the game compare to the EA Sports games? Is it worth my picking up?

Yea, I have Rory as well and it’s definitely fun to play the real courses.  The appeal to me with TGC2 was being able to create a course and a club/society.

My favorite real life course (which I also worked at during college) closed a couple years ago.  As I don’t have an extra $3M laying around to buy the property, plus bring it back up to par, I figured I’d recreate the course in the game haha.

EA definitely is a much larger gaming company, with a larger budget, more experience in sports gaming, and tied to the tour.  That said, TGC2 has some cool features that Rory doesn’t.  But that goes both ways.

Rory is an easier game, more arcade style (I’ve shot a 49 over 18 holes... my best on TGC2 is 3 under so far).  They are both fun games IMO, and only $30 (cheaper used)

    • Hey, thanks for the feedback. I do lift weights but I’m also adding yoga or Pilates for mobility and flexibility to my routine.
    • Day 18: 2026.01.20 Continuing work on arm raise during backswing. Starting to feel less weird, especially the slower I go. Looking like a busy week so might be the weekend before I can hit some balls.
    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
