Day 222 (11 Dec 24) - weather came in about midday….son had an ortho appt mid morning….able to get in some work with the 54 and varied pitches. Used the tulip tree as the obstacle to clear….was able to work the face - normal face with the longer distances to more open with the tight short straight up and downs.

Day 3: 12/12/2024

Okay, so I've already put in about a 1/2 hour of mirror work on my priority piece which I've nicknamed PPJ. The first to P's are starting to feel less bizarro but the J is still too late. As of now, I'm still thinking about it too much. So, although I'm anxious to hit balls, I'm sticking with the mirror work for another day or two. Then I'll move to the garage net.

I set up a small station right outside my office so every time I go in or out I can do a slow-mo PPJ in front of a mirror.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 223 (12 Dec 24) - Got in some full swing work with 6i and 5h in the backyard using hard foam balls.  Good session on ball position -  varying overall ball flight by where I set it up in my stance.

Day 73 - 2024-12-12

Got smacked by a table leg at the same time BM got hit in the foot. MG pulled up the video.

Not a ton of practice today, but got some good work done in the hotel room.

Day 4: 12/13/2024

Okay, so I've already put in more mirror work on my priority piece today. It's starting to feel better. It's starting to look less rigid. I'm continuing to use the station right outside my office so every time I go in or out I can do a slow-mo PPJ in front of a mirror and I think that's really helping.

Tomorrow, I might dare to get out to the garage and try it on the mat, hitting some balls into the net.

Oh, and I almost forgot. I also rolled some putts around for like 40 minutes at The PGA Superstore. 😜

Day 224 (13 Dec 24) - Friday men’s group session / teamed up with course greens keeper and his assistant.  Was a very “meh” round as I underplayed the putter more than anything.  Driving was okay, irons were good. Wedges were strong - even had a couple green side pitches rattle the flag and lip out for near miss birdies.  Fun part was we were busy repairing pitch marks - like three to each one we made.  Best lesson was really seeing the course from the perspective of the ones’ who take care of it.

Day 149: tooled around with putters at PGA Tour Superstore for a while. None of the putters I tried were better than mine, which is not surprising.

Day 225 (14 Dec 24) - Son called and invited me to play nine with and grandson.  We head to the local course - temps in the mid-50’s, N-NE wind 10-15 mph (hurting going out, helping coming in) as the course pretty much runs N-S on both nines.  Highlight of the round - grandson chips in for par on the 1st hole.  My play was much better to today-five pars, four bogies for a solid 40. Course management as it relates to the wind was key. 4 of the 5 pars were up and down saves as the green side pitches/chips were the ticket.
Have to say it was neat playing with my son and grandson and seeing the love of the game continue….

    • I've been playing golf around California for several decades. Shortly after COVID I think we all noticed an large increase in the amount of play on all the courses. Around that time I noticed the pin placements were being placed in the most difficult positions on the greens. Mostly they were placed as close to the edges of the green as possible. Often within as little as 6 or 7 feet. I ask PGA pro at one of the courses why are they doing this because it make the course play considerably more difficult. He responded by saying a study was done and they found that these difficult pin placements created fewer ball marks on the greens. I recently played a course I've played numerous times over the years and the were in nearly impossible locations to get an approach close. Has anyone else noticed this and if so do you feel it is still necessary? Here is a photo of an example;
