Day 9.  Practiced, a little at the range and on the course, focused on setup with the new priority piece (is a setup issue).  Typical ball flight today was a push with two guest duck hooks.  But that's fine, the focus wasn't on playing today (I wasn't going for a score, I was playing to hit some shots on a course and to help out someone getting back into golf).

Day 10.  Had what might be my best practice session in years.  Lasted two hours, used about 45 range balls.

There's a course near where I'm staying that is the only one I've been to this trip that isn't charging for the range by the hour for those not playing.  $5 for a bag of about 45.  That's a pretty good rate anyway, and the grass on the range is well kept.  They also have an ice machine and water dispenser close to the range that we can use.  I spent about 45 minutes hitting 8-iron flight shots and 6-iron shots.  The focus was on setup, as my Evolvr priority piece is related to that.  I swung a few times, slowly, focusing on making sure the setup was right and that the swing resulted from that.  Then I stepped back, reset, and did the same with a ball.

Then I stepped back and went to the putting green for a few minutes.  The range was empty enough, so it wasn't like I was going to lose my spot.  I worked on 4' putts, line and making, and 12-15' putts, getting them at least to the hole.  Worth noting:  the holes were shallow with a small section of pipe at the center, which is nice for not having to pick anything up but sometimes the ball would hit that and pop out.  Not sure how it'd be have on the course, but that isn't the point, it's just odd.

I went back to the range and picked up where I left off with the 6-iron, then hit some 3H, then 4W, and lastly driver.  Same routine as described earlier with each.  I stopped and putted some more, this time 30' or so putts, aiming to get the distance right.  I went back to the range, finished with full 56 degree shots (to whatever extent I hit something under 6-iron "full" - flight shots).  Somehow these felt better than my usual 56 did in the past.  Not sure what changed, but if I can hit like those again, I'll be a lot less afraid of my 56... and a lot more confident from 70-80 yards out.

Observation:  I wish I knew more practice facilities where I could stop at the range, go putt (or chip, that'd be great too!) and get back to the range without having to wait for a spot again.  Maybe because it's Palm Desert summer, and if I came to this club in January it'd be a different story.

Day 38 - Played 9, league officially started. I really struggled off the tee, a few awful pulls. Short game was good, but everything else was bad. Hopefully just an off-day.

Day 199

Yesterday (missed posting): Started superspeed again, restarting protocol 2, after 2 week break due to muscle soreness swinging left handed. Also hit a few balls with a 7-iron working on a solid backswing.

Day 12

Putting indoors to a target 3' away. I worked on stance, alignment and the takeaway.

I also eliminated the finger down the shaft at the start of this year after reading through the thread below. It was uncomfortable at first, but the most noticeable difference in putting has been lag putts 20'+ are consistently closer and reducing 3 putts.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
