Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.

15 minutes between lesson sets today. I also revised an AppleScript I use to automate emails to students.

Day 25: 3/19/2024

I had a busy day. I was only able to get about 10 minutes in on the indoor putting mat.

Did some 50mm gate drills and used the perfect putt and the putting mirror.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 506, March 20, 2024

Ten minutes after a FaceTime lesson and recording some things for CoachNow. Just downswing.

I almost always hit three balls, and then collect them before hitting them again, with a little break in there. It turns out that hitting only 3 to 5 balls at a time is a recommended way to practice, too.

Slow motion swings. Approach shots were underwhelming in last round after hitting 11 fairways but just 5 greens. Striving to manage low point of the swing and improve distance control.

Day 26: March 20, 2024

Got to the range today to hit balls. Worked on my priority pieces first. Then worked through the bag hitting each club while working on my priority pieces. I finished by hitting targets with my wedges.

Later I got some mirror work in and my overspeed training session.

Day 27: 3/21/2024

I had a great practice session today. Got to the range on lunch. I worked 3 things. One piece of my backswing, one piece with my hips/legs/feet thing, and on my hand path (anyone who knows me knows hand path is a never ending battle for me).

Anyhow, I started with some block practice and a 6 iron. 6 balls working on the first thing, then 6 balls working on the second thing, then finally 6 balls working on the third thing.

Then I did some random practice. Chose a club at random and worked on 1 of the 3 things using only one ball. Then I used one ball for the other, and then the other. After that I'd choose a different club at random, rinse and repeat.

As I was leaving the range, one of my range pals challenged me to a closest to the target contest. We hit balls at a half dozen targets from about 65 yards out to 125 yards.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
