Day 9: 5/15/2025

This morning I combined some mirror work with hitting balls in the garage net.
I'm looking into getting a mirror for the garage. I'd like to find one like what my local range has. Doesn't need to be fancy.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 15 (15 May 25) - Solo round today (my Thurs partner is on a family trip) - so I made it a Two Ball Worst Ball round along with making it a back and forth between gold and white tees.  This meant on the 1st tee I played from the “white” tee box two tee shots (Hole 2 played from the “gold” tees - again two balls off the tee).  Then the approach was played from the worst of the two tee shots (if one is in the rough or OB and the other in the fairway - the former is where you have to play), likewise if both tee shots are in the fairway but you mishit one and it’s 20yds shorter, you pick up the longer ball and go back to the shorter one and play from there. On the green the “ball furthest from the pin” is where you putt from.  If you hole out you still have to roll the 2nd putt, if you miss then you play another 2rolls of the ball from that spot.  It really stings to hole out and know it’s not good unless you hole the 2nd. Likewise if you miss the first and hole the 2nd, you have to still have to play from the miss of the 1st.  The goal - to be bogie or better.  The end result - it creates a mental focus that is very competitive in nature.
How did it go? Shot an even 90 off par 72, playing from alternate tee boxes.  Only 2 dbl bogies (one on the front, one on the back) - but also had two pars.  The pars came from tee shots and approaches all ending relatively close to each other (15yds  or less apart).
Words of caution - (1) This is a slow course day exercise as you are literally playing twice as many shots on each hole; (2) you cannot get mad, you have to remain in the moment; (3) accept the idea the potential for bogie or worse is very possible.

Day 44 - Hit some wedges with the intention of working on my 100-yard shot, but instead worked the face a bit. Intentionally trying to hit the toe, heel, and center of the face. I definitely have a heel bias, but focusing on turning my body helped to get things in the center.

Day 299: 25 minute putting session on the practice green. Worked on putts from inside 15’ (mostly inside 10’). Feel like I’m rolling it pretty well, but always room for improvement for me.

Day 16 (16 May 25) - Played in the Friday men’s group shootout - did okay on the front (5 over 41), back was wheels on/wheels par-dbl-par-dbl-par-dbl-bogie-bogie-dbl (11 over 47).  Overall - it was about recovering. Best part of the round was the chip in birdie on 8 and then almost a 2nd chip in birdie on 9.

Day 10: 5/16/2025

Got in a really good range session today. The weather was beautiful and I was able to work mostly on my Priority Pieces with a 6 iron. But after that I did a little bit of driver work, mostly working on hitting my start line. Then I finished by hitting wedges at a number of specific targets.

Played 18 holes at Whispering Woods. Backswing stuff mostly good. Just gotta build the reps on the downswing thing to trust it.

Day 229 - 2025-05-17

Played 15 holes with @Hardspoon, then went to Golf Evolution for an afternoon practice session. Had three birdies in a row (nearly four), and four in six holes with a par in between at one point. Also @Hardspoon and I both drove the green on a par four.

Day 11: 5/17/2025

Spent time in the garage net today working on my priority pieces.
I'll probably do something similar tomorrow and then look to get some new video of my swing later in the week.

Day 17 (17 May 25) - Grandson put in to play golf after his Little League game today.  Got us a 2 pm tee time - and we pretty much had a wide open course.  We had a blast just enjoying the round.  He almost had an eagle 2 on 8 as his approach hit and rolled by the cup barely missing stopping 15” past.  Overall it was one of my more consistent rounds (82 (41/41 split - no dbl bogies, 4 up and down pars, 30 putts total).  Looking forward to more rounds and seeing this kid grow his game.

Day 301: played a 9 hole par 3 course with the kids. Shot +2, which I’m okay with. Also had a long range session tonight. Hit 50 balls, mostly doing my drill swing with video. Worked in a bit of driver and normal swings to mix it up. Then putted for about 45 minutes. Worked on lag putting for about 15, and then putts inside 10 feet for the rest of the time. Great, energizing session.

Day 46 - Won my match today, in spite of showing up with my B game. Irons weren’t great, and putting cost me a few strokes.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
