Day 7 (guess submit button didn’t get pressed correctly on this one):

Started hitting some balls working on priority piece and then a light rain started and my mat got slippery. So switched to a little putting work inside.

Day 8: Hit a lot of poor chip shots in my last round, so just chipped into my net for 20 minutes this evening.

Day 7 (September 11).   Today was how I imagined spending my afternoons when I have the time, which I want to have more of.  I was at the practice facility for close to 3 hours.  My priorities were my grip change, and according setup that goes with it, along with a drill from Erik on Skillest.  I got a bucket of 35 balls.  I did the drill, I hit 3-4 balls, although of course, that meant several slow and focused practice swings, some thought, and actually hitting a ball.  Then I did the drill again, then 3-4 balls, and this until I was done.

A bucket that size normally takes me 70-90 minutes, I think this took closer to 105 minutes.  I also took a few breaks (it was a very nice afternoon, barely 100 degrees out).  I also refilled my water a few times.  The clubs I hit during this were my 8-iron, 6-iron, long hybrid, 4W, and driver.   I saw maybe three other people the whole time I was there, and two of them left early (I hope it wasn't because of me).

Then I went to the chipping green.  I hit my 58 degree, which is the club I primarily chip and pitch with, focusing on the grip and hitting a variety of chips and pitches.  No one else was there when I did this, it was great!

Then I went to the putting green.  My SG:P over my past 10 rounds (and this is pretty consistent past more than that) is something like losing 2.5 shots putting, inside 10 feet, compared to the 10 HCP baseline, while being near that baseline outside of 10' (at various increments separately, too).   For that matter, I'm losing 1.72 compared to a 25 hcp baseline.  I wish I could break it down more, but the fact of the matter is, I know I miss a lot of very short putts, and I need to fix it.  If I had a tournament coming up, I'd prioritize this;  instead, it's getting a bit more than 15% of my practice time once I'm home, maybe 25%.

Anyway, so I set up an "around the clock" drill.  This time, I set it up at 3' and decided I was going to stay there until I sank them all in a row.  I relaxed a bit, making a point of sinking them all once, allowing me to re-hit from a coin a few times if I missed one.  Then the drill began.  Maybe I should have switched holes at this point, but I didn't.  I missed my third one, then proceeded to sink the next 12.  I tell you, that 12th made me nervous -- I usually do this drill as "make from each position twice, minimize total putts to do so" and not "do this in a row."  So I didn't realize that if you miss one, and continue, the 12th will always be from the same spot you last missed.  But I made it!  :-)

I intend to practice putting in such a way that I can complete this drill from 4' before too long, and I won't neglect other putts inside 10' either (and I'll try to maintain what I do outside 10').

But, since my goal is long-term improvement, my focus is on the full swing lessons.

Day 28 9-11

Worked on "flow" drill with a focus on getting pressure to lead side more naturally. Hit a few balls and then hit foam balls with face on camera. Getting a little too caught up in where my hands are in the downswing(trailing and flippy).

Day 8 (September 12).  Went back to the practice facility this morning.  I did some chipping practice, as well as checking distances for quarter swings with my LW, SW, and UW.  I suppose that's five minutes on its own, but I like to document a full practice session.

I went to the range after that and shared a small bucket.  As per yesterday, I did the two-club drill from my Skillest lesson, then hit 3-4 balls (with the usual routine;  this is about a 7-10 minute deal), focusing as before on grip and setup.  This repeated, and I hit about 20 balls total.  This included 8-iron, 6-iron, 3H, 4W, and two driver shots.

The revised grip is getting a lot more comfortable, thanks to both hitting the range and practicing with a pipe when I'm not there.

Short game practice and moving club back and through with "chest" and momentum, at range.  Didnt record just wanted to feel looser and not so mechanical this session. Hit real balls on grass.

Hit balls after a lesson focusing on how I walk into the ball as it's been awkward lately because I'm not taking my grip before I get up to the ball.

Day 1: 9/12/25

Chipping practice tonight. Using the  Mayo method. Made 3 in 30 minutes, but none on the hardest hole. Hit too many heavy again tonight. When I’m on, I am really good and when I am not I hit it heavy.

Hit balls after doing (and while doing) the Skillest lessons I had today. Same stuff. Started with the pre-shot, walking into it. A little on the backswing. Then downswing stuff.

Day 2: 9/13/25

Really good chipping session tonight. Figured out I had gotten too handsy. Only made 3 but greens were bumpy tonight. I usually chip with the same ball but tonight I chipped with 2 Pro V1X’s and 1 Maxfli Tour X. Definitely different and the Titleists often finished near each other.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
