Titleist 917 or Ping G400??

Looking at a new driver and 3 wood and have been fitted for both models. Both stats came out roughly the same but the fitter recommended the titleist being half inch shorter if I choose that one. My irons are 1.5 inches longer with being 6ft  5” but what’s the advantage of the shorter driver shaft and what’s people’s thoughts if they had to pick one of the above??

Ping is probably longer on off-center hits and maybe 5yds longer on centerred hits. Just looks a bit uglier and titleist usually has a better feel off the face. 

A shorter shaft lowers the swing weight, meaning makes getting the face square at impact easier. Sure it may be lower distance on perfect hits but it usually pays off for making contact better. But because of your height, I’d stick with 45.5in or so.

The Ping G400 is very sweet off the face and sound is excellent - different from other Ping drivers. Get the right shaft and it ought to be longer than the Titleist, or at least more consistently long because of its high MOI/forgiveness.

Epic or G400 is the better question. I use them both interchangeably, depending on what I want to look at that day.

I love the look of Titleist drivers, and I love my 915.

However I have hit the G400 and it is sweet. Between your choices, I would lean toward the G400, but what I might really do is get fitted for the Rogue!!

Personally not a Ping fan here. But you said you are fitted, it's all up to you. You can always order custom length shafts at Titleist. I did the same with my woods, but I like my shafts a little shorter. 

They say a shorter shaft gives a bit more control.
