Hello!

Some of you may be familiar with my username from various other places. If not then allow me to introduce myself. My real name is Nate, I'm (grrr!) almost 40. I have three sons, all of them golfers to a varying level. My oldest is 14 and is a great kid! Not a very good golfer but realizes that and has fun with the game. He'd be a great scramble partner as he hits some really good shots and swings HARD, but his short game is usually a liability.

My middle son is 12 (almost 13 now) and is a very solid golfer. He's shot as low as 85 playing his own ball before from the regular tees. He's not very long yet so he was hitting 3w/3h into many of the greens and generally knocking it closer than the 9i I was hitting in that day. His short game is very good for a young 7th grader.

My little guy is 6 and is the only one of us to hold a world record that will never be topped. He holds the 18 holes scoring record with an 18. That's right, 18 holes in one! The caveat is that he only putts and places the ball 6-12" from the hole. But since it's impossible to beat 18 for 18, that'll never be topped!:)

Finally, I am only interested in being a positive member. I'm here to share my experiences and to share in yours. My first attempt at being a forum member elsewhere didn't end real well as I'm sure some may know. I took things too personal with some of the comments directed towards me. Again, I'm only interested in being a positive member and as such that is the only type of posts that I will respond to. Hit them well, friends!

Thanks! Still trying to navigate my way around here. Generally a mobile only user, is there a model or theme that is easier to get around? I only see the one theme, which appears to be a mix of mobile and desktop features.

What you see is what you get.   The mobile isn't too bad once you get the hang of it.   I will admit that I believe the larger screen of my desktop is easier but I'm old....;-)

It's a responsive theme, which means it adapts to whatever size screen you've got.

I'm getting old Mr Iacas...:) If it's not 100% user friendly its tough for me (this seems to be about 99% friendly)- and please tell those darn kids to get off my lawn!;) I'm not really having a hard time I'm just getting used to the different layout

Tech stuff isn't my forte. It seems to be ok to navigate, I just have to figure it out. Once I do I'm sure I'll be golden. It's not like it's difficult, even for me. I just had a couple posts that said they needed to be approved for a week or so and I have no idea how to get PM's. I'm sure that all will be revealed in due course, and I probably just didn't hit "refresh" or something for the older posts to appear on the forum . All in all this seems nice. Polpulated by golfers and for golfers. My type of place. I'm sure in a week or two I'll have the hang of it and look back and think "duh! That was easy!" Everything I've read so far seems to be written by someone with knowledge and experience.

A lot is done through the three lines menu at the top.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
