People keep bringing up par-3 courses and that's valid. But one of the beauties of golf is the great variety of different courses. Hopefully most of us have access to some very reasonable regulation courses.

Being something of a hack and playing with other hacks, there are certain courses in my area that I generally avoid. These places are too hilly, too tight or the rough is just too damn long. None of us want to spend time looking for balls, so we stick to the courses where we know where the ball lands. As a result, we get to our shot faster and have a less frustrating round and still in the context of a par-72 course.

I believe I shot my worst round in about 12 years yesterday but we still played in 3:50. Would have been less if we didn't have to wait for the group in front about 5-6 times. Shooting higher scores don't mean you have to take longer to play. Hell, yesterday I wanted to get off the course as fast as I could. Tomorrow is another day.
