What do you guys think of this situation?

The PGA of America has announced Seth Waugh as their new CEO. He has been and continues to be a mentor for PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. Former PGA of America President Ted Bishop wrote very recently that there were rumors at Bellerive of merger talks between the two entities. Bringing in Waugh to help finish the deal makes a lot of sense. Geoff Shackelford wrote an article speculating about it today.

I think there’s almost no chance.

P.S. Jeff? It’s right in the URL man.

No real responses here on this? Wow.

I just don't know what would be in it for the PGA Tour. And the PGA would be giving up some control over the PGA and Ryder Cup.

They seem to have separate purposes/objectives anyway. I don't see the benefit.

It makes zero sense. Especially for the Tour, in today's climate (and the past 50 years).

PGA Tour was created to take control of the proceeds from the tournaments, and direct to the players.  It was originally the "Tournament Players Division" and was created to exercise more control over the revenues they brought in.  Why in the world would they want to subsidize the now foundering club/retail/soft goods side of the game? I'm sure some parts of the PGA would entertain the idea.. but not the Tour.

Presumably their motivation would be to get their hands on the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup. But both of the leaders have denied these rumors, so I would say it's a dead issue until proven otherwise.

I understand what the PGA is and that its a serperate entity, but by merging, which it obviously isn’t happening but if it did I’m not sure I quite understant what exactly that would mean.  Would it effect the current structure of the Tour someway?  Would it effect the game in any way shape or form for those of us hackers?  Lol.

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
